Default Stampede Block Party ideas....

We are hosting a block party with a Stampede theme and are trying to come up with some games that the adults, kids, or combination can play. I have come up with a few but am looking for a few more. DO you have any ideas or suggestions??????
- i.e. Keg roping

Also is there anyone who might have some straw bales or a REAL roping rope that I can borrow???

Thanks so much for your ideas!

If you go to Reid's on 17th they have a section with all sorts of Stampede-themed games and decorations. I can't recall exactly, but there's a Stampede-based version of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey". Also, Stampede plates, napkins, etc etc.

my cul-de-sac used to have stampede parties every year when I was a kid.
Some of the games we did for kids:
- divide kids into teams and have them do a relay race. first leg of the race each kid has to run wearing a large cowboy hat, its hilarious to watch the hats fly off as the kids run! You can have them use a super soaker to squirt a target, use a hula hoop to 'lasso' a chair, etc.
- we had a daddy bronco game where dads had to piggy back their kids around hay bales as a race
- hockey sticks make great 'horses' so you can use that for games as well

My friends and I invented a wicked game that's a hybrid or croquet and baci ball. One of them showed up at a bbq with one of those cheap sets you get from crappy tire that has croquet clubs and baci balls. We basically played baci ball, but used the croquet clubs to hit the ball, but instead of just taking one shot, we would keep playing until someone actually hit the white ball with their colored ball.
We stole a couple rules from golf where the guy furthes back hits first, and we played 18 "holes".
If you hit another players ball, you get another shot, so it's fun to screw your friends (haha!) by hitting their ball on the way to the white ball. Your extra shot supercedes the furthest back rule, so the strategy is to work your way close to the white ball by knocking your opponents' balls on the way.
Once a player hits the white ball, he wins the hole and then picks it up and tosses it wherever, and voila, the next hole begins however the balls lie.

I don't know how that sounds to the reader, but we had a blast playing this game one fine afternoon. We just played on the chain of front lawns on my buddy's street.

My wife's old work would get adult size tricycles and each company would decorate a kids wagon a different theme. They would then have different heats for the "chuckwagon" races with prizes for the top 3 teams.
