Interesting article in the New York Times today describing the effect of a 10 kiloton nuclear bomb going off in Times Square:

It would vaporize or destroy the theater district, Madison Square Garden, the Empire State Building, Grand Central Terminal and Carnegie Hall. The blast would partly destroy a much larger area, including the United Nations. On a weekday some 500,000 people would be killed.

Article then goes on to describe Al Queda efforts to secure such a device.

Value the column as worthless scare tactics or plausible as you wish.
