Yeah I've heard that retentions are the only ones that can give a good deal.

There's a huge thread with people saying what they've got through retentions.

Retentions is the way to go -- don't even bother talking to the "regular customer service person", they really can't give you anything special -- another link with what people got from retentions: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=859401

Okay, but how does that work? Do I call retention, work out a deal and have them mail me the new iPhone?

I pay around $65/mnth for unlimited data, 200 anytime minutes, call display, call waiting, free evenings & weekends and paid extra to have the free evenings start at 6 instead of nine. Never bothered with voicemail on my cell, I can tell who called by the call display and call them back if nesecarry. This is for the HTC P4000 through telus.

This is what I have for Rogers on a Blackberry Bold.
$17.50 EPP voice plan:
200 daytime mins
Unlimited evenings/weekends @ 6pm
$30 Blackberry Value Pack:
500MB data
Caller ID
Voicemail
10000 sms/mms
Add on SAF and GST and my bill comes out to $57.xx.
Before you call them, write down what you want for voice/data and any other add-ons that you want. Keep a price in mind, but don't tell the rep in retentions and see what's the best they can offer you. If you feel the price they give is not what you have in mind, try again in a few hours or the next day.

You might have a problem if you are trying to get a deal through retentions if you are trying to get a 3GS... I tried when I got the 3G iPhone and retentions flat out said they were not doing anything for the iPhones at that time, I called back a few times same thing.
Any other time would have been fine I'm sure, but calling retentions from the lineup in the mall to get a 3G iPhone probably shows I wasn't serious about canceling.
