Boeing used a similar method when they were developing the 777. Pretty cool.

Holy crap if it is true on the catapults power draw.
Not that they'll have a "wave-motion" cannon or anything like that, but 150 megawatts? And with that short of a burst, it would also be a wonder if they weren't doing a small scale emp pulse to go along with it as well.
