Default WTB: Bell PVR

We are tired of renting our PVR (and our 12 months free rental is expiring soon). For being a long time customer of Bell, I'm not happy with the offer they are extending to me to purchase a new one.

Does anyone have one for sale? I would prefer a HD model, but suppose I would settle for non-HD.

Thanks!

Can't help with a PVR but have you tried playing hardball with Bell by threatening to cancel your services. I got 30% off for a year plus a 6131 for half price by mentioning a Shaw deal. With an external Hard Drive, the 6131 becomes a PVR.

Others have gotten up to 40% off and half price on a dual tuner 9241. I already have a 9242 so the 6131 works for me.
If one Bell rep seems to be not following along, phone back and get another rep.

When calling bell press the retentions or cancelations button. Don't waste your time talking to other CSRs.

Sound advice Vulcan.

Just to clarify, Shaw quite often seems to be offerring a free HD-PVR for switching. If they call your bluff by saying "well- you are only renting" tell them that you have a buddy with an old 4700 that you can give Shaw; as Shaw only requires a copy of your current bill and a receiver to make the swap.

I got ~$300 off my Bell 9242 by doing that. However make sure you keep a log of the calls. Record the date, time, firstname of the CSR and their employee number. Call during the day around mid-morning to get a CSR who is in Canada; not only do they know what you are talking about because they have seen the hardware, but they get paid by the hour as opposed to our overseas friends who get paid based on number of calls they handle in a day.

I can confirm that you can get a free HDPVR from shaw even if you are only renting. I did it a few months ago. I'm not saying you should switch (I did to get the free PVR and save on bundled services, but I still prefer Bell's lineup and sound quality) but you can definitely throw out there that Shaw has made an offer of a free HDPVR even if you are coming from a Rental of a Bell Receiver. (My Bell receiver was an old 6100, HD but not PVR that I rented for 3 years)

Here's a 9200 I found in Calgary for $350. I think you'll have to register to communicate with the seller though.

$150 at BB

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...36&catid=20231

you need your own external hard drive though to make it a PVR.

courtesy of RFD.

I bought one on Friday. The salesman thought he just had the floor model so he said he would sell it for $120. Then he found a new box in the back and said he would honor the orginal $120.

I don't know what I'm going to do with the thing. Hard to pass up though, especially a nerd like me with EHB sitting around everywhere.
