Planning a stag, need help
My best friend is the best man for a mutual friend of ours' wedding in July. As best man, he's been tasked with planning the stag. Unfortunately he's not the best at getting things organized so he's enlisted me to help him out.
I've got everything figured out pretty well so far but there are a couple of things I was hoping the CP collective could help me out with. The biggest challenge to the planning is that the date they've picked is July 11th, which is the last Saturday of Stampede. There's also a big UFC event that night and the groom is a pretty big fan so we're hoping to work that in somehow.
So far the tentative itinerary is as follows:
9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Going to have a big golf game. We don't know how many people are coming just yet, but I thought I would book a tournament if it there were going to be more than 20. If not, then we'll just book as 3 or 4 different foursomes. Tentative plan is to play at Heritage Pointe but I'm open to suggestions, except for Heather Glen.
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM:
Depending on how the golf game goes I figured we would head back to either the father of the bride's or the father of the groom's place for beer and barbecue
7:00 PM - 10:30 PM
This is where I need the most help. We'd like to book a private room at a pub that has some big screens to watch the fight. The room definitely needs to be private and we're hoping for an establishment that'll be okay with the planned female entertainment. I had a friend who booked out the basement at a pub in town and did this for his stag but I think that place is closed now.
11:00 PM - 2:00 AM
Head to a club and let everyone loose. People can take off when they want to or continue to drink.

Do the guy a favour and refrain from getting him idiot drunk by 8pm. Nothing wrong with a little class at a stag.
But if you're planning 'female entertainment' at a bar, why not just take him to the peelers?

I agree with the first point but the peelers are gay. Although I could book a private room at the Maid. Don't know if they have big screens in their private rooms though.

For a buddy's stag we booked out a room at the Toad and Turtle (Barlow and 32nd).
We had strippers there, and there were TV's. If you've ever been there, we were in the room to the right as you walk in the front door.
It was a few years ago, but they might still do it.

Yeah, the peelers do suck. Never understood people that want to go there all the time. To each their own, I guess.
Have you considered having the female entertainment come to the location of the BBQ? Then you can go out at 9ish and bar hop 17th or something? One of the guys has got to have a living room with a big screen and enough space for 20-30 guys and a peeler.

IIRC, that's a pretty big room. Out of curiousity, do you remember how much it cost?

I wasn't the one to book it so I have no idea, but it worked out pretty well, as they didn't mind us bringing in "Entertainment".

Assuming you mean the place on 16th ave, that was a real shame it closed. as far as idea's I did one about 15 years ago and instead of normal ho-hum strippers I rented a some gambling stuff (blackjack,wheel..etc and hired a couple of topless girls to work them. great time and I raised $3500 after expenses for the B & G.

wouldn't bars have to have a permit for peelers? i think they would anyway..im just saying, cuz you said you'd want the peelers to go to the bar you choose..that might be hard to find one..maybe the peelers at the bbq would be better..and make sure the groom to be doesnt mind the strippers there..i know lots of couples that almost didnt get married because of strippers at stags

Once you're married the peelers are the only way you can see boobs in person besides your wifes without getting in trouble. I go when I can.

I don't think they need a permit. I know of several bars around town that allow stags with strippers, Tequila being one of them.
The best man is also the bride's younger brother, so I think he's got a pretty good pulse on how she feels about strippers.

Strippers suck... in Calgary.
Try going in Vegas or Montreal. A different experience all together.
I went to a stag in Vegas last year and it was good times.

Agreed. The strippers in Calgary are a pretty dull experience. I have not been to Montreal and I didn't go to the strippers while I was in Vegas, but the place I went to in Mexico was fantastic.

I have no idea how strippers can be any more "interesting" than they are in Calgary. They get naked, dudes chuck loonies... That's it. A couple of twirls and a wink... What else is there?
Unless I get to go for a test drive, why am I looking under the hood?

From past experience with buddies, usually when the groom doesn't want strippers he's either marrying another man or the soon to be wife doesn't want them due to insecurity and trust issues.
I had strippers at my stag and I really hope my wife had them at her stagette. It's a party to celebrate ones last few days of being single so have some fun and if you the couples trust each other then stuff like that shouldn't be an issue.
My 2 cents on that issue.

Um, lap dances?
The sit and flip loonies thing is beyond dull.
At the Bachelor party I was at in Vegas there were two girls on the stage at all times, and about 20 - 30 walking around, sitting on your lap trying to get you to do a lap dance with them.
You can say no and enjoy the show, or can have them dance up on you a bit for a 20.
Might not be your thing but it's definitely a level above the lame experience here. I never understood the looney toss.

Sometimes getting to play with the steering wheel and reving the engine can be enjoyable.
