Decent game tonight for the Hitmen. Sloppy at times, but did enough of the little things right to pull out the win.

Pogge was amazing, as usual, though I thought he went down way too early on the first goal, and got burned.

Dupont and Merkley were providing the energy for the entire team.

Ladd was useless as ever, and cost us the second goal with another stupid penalty. How glad are you you drafted this floater 4th overall now, Carolina? What a waste of a draft pick...

How Kohn got third star is beyond me. He was not impressive at all, imo.

Throughout much of the second period, I couldnt tell if we were playing a hockey team or a travelling circus. What a goon show from the Cougars. Cheap shots and attacks after the whistle on about five straight plays.

The "highlight" for Prince George was Petr Jelinek tossing a linseman to the ice to try and get at a Hitmen player. I absolutely cannot believe he was only given a 10-minute misconduct for that, rather than a gross misconduct, but I do expect the league will be having a look at that idiot's actions.

10,494 in attendance, boosting the Hitmen's North American attendance lead.

In other WHL news, Dean Chynoweth, the coach/GM of the Broncos recieved a minor, 10 minute misconduct, game misconduct and gross misconduct after he flipped out at the referee in the Ice-Broncos game when Kotenay goaltender Jeff Glass apparently layed out a Bronco player and then started beating him with his blocker - and only got a minor penalty for it. Chynoweth was apparently throwing water bottles at the referee, which was followed by the crowd doing the same.

According to a fan at the game, RCMP had to be called in to escort the referee out of the building.

Watched the Cougars tonight in Red Deer and I think they surpassed the goon show shown in Calgary. They were absoluely brutal. Two 5 minute majors and Games for boarding. Numerous trips to the penalty box for all kinds of offenses. I can honestly say they are the worst goon squad I've seen in years.

And to think that their coach, after the game, bitched that it was the worst officiated game he had ever seen! Try controlling your goons for gawd's sake.

Not a fun game to watch but at least the only team 'trying' to play hockey prevailed.

Oh yeah, and ex Hitmen Zalasky manged to punch a linesman in one melee. Watch out if you're a linesmen against these guys!

Zalasky was looking for fights all night long against Calgary as well. I would guess it was some of the "proving we arent teammates anymore" thing.

I suppose in PG's case, it is frustration more than anything. While Calgary is 7-2-0 since the big trade, the Cougars are only 2-7-0, and are in imminent danger of being passed by the Blazers for the last playoff spot.
