Post Your Monthly Data Usage
iPhone or BlackBerry...
Post your data usage last month and if you want, your record high!
I'm amazed at how any one would need any more than 1GB of data each month...
Phone: Blackberry
Usual data activities: Browsing, email, Blackberry Messenger, MSN Messenger, several Apps that use data (weather, The Hockey News, etc.).
Last month: 133857 KB
March: 100367 KB

Good idea. I'm curious how much I would need to pay for (should I ever get an iPhone).
If possible, could you also post the kinds of things you do on your phone? I imagine someone streaming video all day would use a lot more than a guy only posting to twitter all day.

Since I'm the guy posting to Twitter all day, I feel I can answer that question excellently.
I use approx 275 mb per month (275000 kb) and I would consider myself a heavy iPhone user. I download applications like they're going to be gone tomorrow, and I'll buy a couple albums every month from the phone itself. I'm also on the train for about an hour and a half each day and I'd say about half that time I'm using the internet for something.
I would be astounded if you could use up a gig (or even half a gig) without tethering.

In this billing cycle, ending on the 13th, I have used 68.854 MB so far.

Blackberry BOLD
BB apps, weather, Hockey News, Facebook, CP BB messenger and lots of emailing to name a few.
I've been averaging between 140000-170000KB, without tethering. I gave up the original Rogers 6GB data plan for the BB Value Pack. I get only 500MB and plus other features. I figure it's better that way since I save some money and I probably won't ever go over 500MB.

How do we find out exactly? I use approximately 200-300 MB per month, and I have the 6GB per month plan.

I've barely cracked 1 GB since August. I would very much like to pay something more reasonable ($10/mo. ??) for, say, 1 GB/mo. rather then the 6 GB I've currently got.

I think the reason so many have the 6 GB plan was the worries about 1000$ phone bills. In the months leading up to the Canadian iPhone release, there were rumors that Rogers was going to offer an unlimited package ($100/month?), then a much smaller plan, then a capped plan, then ____,etc, and finally when it was released there was a $30/6gb plan for a limited time.
I thought it was a good deal, as I was able to restructure my plan (avg monthly bill went from $100+/- w/o data, to roughly $90 w/ data added on). I now realize that 6 gb's is basically impossible with out tethering...but one day I will be able to tether, so, until then I don't mind the 'waste'.
I've received exactly 1GB and sent 54.4MB since last July.
I would say $1/day to have the internet/e-mail/maps/traffic/stanza/weather/urban spoon (+non-web apps) has been worth it to me.

For those with the 6GB plan, be careful if you make changes to your voice plans on the rogers website or by calling in. I read rogers is being sneaky. One user was going to add a $3 texting plan, and he was prompted with a note saying his 6GB data plan would be removed at a certain date, before his contract expired.
Make sure you have the CSR check to see that nothing happens to the data portion if you make changes, and tell them to leave notes on your account saying so.

Yeah, it's funny but I was all stressed that I would use way too much data and end up with huge bills. I've had my iPhone for about two months now and I thought I used alot of data - mostly just playing as the novelty hasn't worn off yet and I've done some e-mailing, checking weather, checking CP, sports scores and news, mapping and just general browsing. In the two months I have used 193.4MB. I have 2GB with my plan and I'm fairly confident I couldn't use that if I tried.

I'm thinking about going with a new iPhone 3G as I only have a gen1 8gb iPhone from the US. Don't have a plan on it now so it's just a glorified iPod Touch, but I plan to sell it and get a 3G with a Rogers data plan.
I was on their site and it's a $10/mo difference on the 1Gb vs. 2Gb plan, plus another 150 weekday minutes.
I don't imagine I'd ever use more than 1Gb in a month, but who the hell knows?
