Bottom line is that in spite of the "renewed focus" on recruiting and training officials those measures will take YEARS to have an impact in the CFL.

Short-term instant replay would have helped to avoid some of the disastorous calls of last season that literally cost teams wins. Dissapointing that the CFL isn't willing to take the step forward.

Well it would be nice to have this available I am not sure that the CFL has the skill, resources or money to use video replay properly.

Maybe once they get their on-field officiating taken care of they can try to focus on implementing video review.

In order to implement it, it takes testing to know that it's going to be used properly when needed. Like, more than 2 games. I say test it out at several games this season with TV feeds, some 'exclusive' feeds, get the kinks worked out, then implement it in 2006. Couldn't hurt. I think it's good way to complement the refs on the field.

It certainly would be nice but I just have an overwhelming feeling that the CFL officials would find some way to make these calls controversial and wonder if they would be able to get enough views to make it worthwhile.

If the video replay they are looking at is similar to the NFL, then you only get so many challenges per game. The way the officials in this league are, you would run out of them pretty quick. They need to tighten up on the officiating first, then implement video replay.

Which is their plan - tripiling their investment in officiating training, recruitment, farm-system, for this year - a wise move imo
