THRASHERS OFF TO THE CONFERENCE FINALS!

Thrashers are off to the conference finals after beating Tampa Bay 4-3 in game 6 for a 4-2 series win. Jason Pominville lead the way with 1 G, 1 A. With the Thrashers trailing 3-2 late in the 3rd, Tverdovsky (who joined Exelby in this game as injury replacements for Staios and Hejda) and Pominville get goals to secure the win and the series.

Atlanta would like to congratulate Tampa Bay on a well played series and are looking forward to playing Buffalo in the conference finals.

"Tampa Bay had a great year and congrats to GM Droopy on putting together a good team. We have a ton of respect for Buffalo who we will play in the conference finals. They are a hot team right now and we look forward to the challenge." - Thrashers GM Sutaria

So the Gretzky conference finals are set. It will be:

Gretzky Conference Finals (Best of 7)

(2) Atlanta Thrashers vs (3) Buffalo Sabres

Great playoffs Drew, you've really turned things around with this franchise. Next year you should be a mainstay for a playoff team.

Thrashers and Sabres, should be interesting. Two of the top 3 teams in the conference, no Cinderella team and two teams that shown throughout the regular season that they should be in this game.

Congrats to the Thrashers for moving on! Some redemption for last years disappointment. Should be a good conference final.

Props to Drew for the job he did with the Lightning this year for sure! They went from last to a serious contender in one season. Well done and you'll have an even better shot next year.

So the Cinderella run comes to an end. Was fun while it lasted. Congrats on the Finalists.

It's been a good playoff run.

Yeah, good turn around season for the Lightning and an impressive run. I think Drew would have been pretty dangerous in the next round too as he has two pretty good goalies and the Sabres only have one and round 3 is when Starters start to fade.

But the Thrashers are always a good CPHL team no matter who the GM is, they've always had good GM's and Neil has done a good job with this group too. Should be a good Conference Finals.

congrats, we look forward to round 3, we hope the fact that Giguere has not had to work too hard thus far will mitigate against any fatigue factor
