Default Arcade Classics: Gauntlet

So, I have an urge to play that old arcade classic, Gauntlet.

But I can't find it on the net.

I can find the remakes that came out for the next gen systems and such, I can find the old Nintendo port that wasn't as good, I can find crappy flash versions, but I can't find the original (or the second one which was very cool too).

I even went to Atari's corporate site and searched for it, and nothing.

So my question is, does anyone know where I might be able to find it? As well, is there a place to find old arcade classics? Even if it's a pay site, if they have all the games I was looking for in their original forms, that would be pretty cool

"Elf needs food, badly!"

The 360 has it on their Arcade lineup, there's even a free demo.

Or for PC

Get MAME

Find Gauntlet ROM to download.

Enjoy.. that way is mostly not legal, but if you really can't buy it...

This reminds me, I want to build a MAME cabinet someday.

Well I would buy it if I could find it. I know PS2 had a disc with arcade classics on it, I dunno if that was on it or not.

Thanks for the help, I'll check out MAME. I'm not a big downloading for free guy I do prefer to pay for stuff, but if I can't find it I can't find it and often with older stuff it gets like that.

MAME is pretty good.

You won't find a place to buy those ROMs legit though.

So the question becomes is it wrong to copy something you can't legally buy...

^^^ Yeah I know how ROMs work. I feel I've done my due dilligence in trying to get a paid copy. I mean if Atari itself has given up on it...

While on the topic of old video games...I am trying to remember the title of an arcade game I used to enjoy in the late '80's. It was a one or two player game, the setting was in the future and had a "game show" kind of theme ala Arnold in the "Running Man". You basically had to battle hordes of enemies (maybe cyborgs?) in a single room...power-ups were pretty frequent and cool. Anybody else remember this game?

On the topic of the Running Man, read the Stephen King novel (penned under Richard Bachman). The cheesy movie has almost nothing in common with it at all.

It's actually an amazing thriller, sort of a Blade Runner crossed with The Fugitive.

There are actually three really good Bachman stories. If you like the Running Man, the Long Walk is also excellent, although some might think they are too similar, I think each stands on its own based on the different approach. The Running Man is more Suspense/Thriller while the Long Walk is a Dystopia/Character Study.

The third is Rage... a novella about school shootings about 20 years ahead of its time.

And no longer published. King how refuses to put it out anymore because of similarities between the novella and some actually school shooting that have occured...a couple where the shooters had copies of the book.

Hmm.. I hadn't heard that. I first read it when they re-published the Bachman Books as a collection in the mid to late eighties. I believe I was in Grade Eight or Nine at the time.... I still have my Trade Paperback edition and reread them every few years. I'm going to reread the Running Man since this thread bright it up...

I don't know if this is a crappy flash version of the game or not, but this website has both Gauntlet games:

Did you have the CHDs as well? Getting CHDs is such a headache and how you need to update all your roms everytime a new version comes out is a headache too.

Does anyoe want a free (empty) Golden Tee cabinet to build a MAME machine. Let me know right away before it goes to the dump (probably next week).
