I went a very long time without downloading an app that did much of anything for me, but a few weeks ago I tried Snipd, which is basically an app I'd been dreaming of making for years.

It's a podcast app with a big old button in the middle that grabs the last minute of whatever you're listening to, so it's essentially a way to take notes or keep bookmarks from a podcast (that's about as far as my dream went).

What's more, it uses AI to generate the title and content of the bookmark so you can easily scan or search for the snip later. If it grabs the wrong section or just misses the key point you wanted, it presents you the transcript with the snip highlighted, which you can then manually drag around to get just the part you want. When you hit save, it then asks if you want to regenerate the title and description of the snip (assuming you've adjusted what it's now about).

It's probably the closest thing I've seen to a perfect podcast app for me.

Since you mentioned GPS stuff:

Waze - Definitely my #1 for navigation thanks to its relatively high usage and speed trap / construction / road hazard notifications.
Highway Radar - It has an early release port on iOS which -- while good -- is still a work in progress, but any Android user should definitely look into it. Sadly it won't work over Android Auto or CarPlay as it isn't a 'navigation' app, but if you install it with the WzSabre plugin (Android only), it can both fetch and submit crowd-sourced data including from Waze about speed traps, includes heat-maps of known enforcement hotspots, and one of the coolest things: aircraft speed enforcement tracking. Ties in the with Valentine1 and Uniden R8.
JBV1 - Another countermeasure app, very comprehensive, designed initially as a companion app for the Valentine1. Android only.

For GPS sites, GPSURL Forums was a good resource for me when I needed to update the maps and camera POIs on my car's built-in Garmin navigation system. Now that I've moved it to CarPlay, I don't use it much.

Radio Garden:

Really neat app/website that has radio stations al over the world plotted over Google Earth. You can just go to some country and pick a radio station to listen to.

Musicolet - the perfect offline music player for Android. For the first few months I used it, I had so many moments where I'd try to do something and would be shocked when it had exactly the feature I needed at that time. They've thought of almost everything.
