If you read between the lines about this date it doesnt nessesarly mean that it's going to be the end of the world..just the end of the Mayan calender.

Yup, I had a chat with a Mayan tour guide when we were at Chichen Itza and he said that Dec. 21 2012 is just the end of a cycle for the Mayan calendar, kind of like going from one year to the next in the Gregorian calendar. It's just a much longer calendar cycle than a one-year Gregorian cycle.

He also suggested that the whole doomsday scenario associated with Dec. 21, 2012 is somewhat of a hoax, or at least a willingly perpetuated faleshood, to generate interest and draw visitors to the Yucatan.

Besides, the world is ending this July when they flip the switch on that black hole generator under the Swiss Alps. Who cares about 2012.
