Default Kyle Maynard: Armless, Legless MMA fighter?

Kyle Maynard, born with his arms at his elbows and his legs at his knees, made his MMA debut on April 25 in Auburn, Alambama.

He competed in the 2004 Georgia High School Wrestling Championships. Maynard had an impressive 50 - 0 record as a high school wrestler.

One round from his debut match

Unreal what he can do as a wrestler but I, for one, think he does not belong in MMA.

There's a big difference between wrestling and taking punches in the face.

Good for the guy, but he's going to get sh**kicked

Reminds me of Shelob, for some reason watching that.

Lord of the Rings, anyone?

He's pretty good at avoiding being hit, but he didn't get much going in that round. It made me dizzy watching it.

The guy who would feel bad for just kicking the s*** out of him? Guy was probably hoping he could pick him up and pin him so he wouldn't have to kill him.

That's some weirdness right there. If I were the dude in the red trunks, I think I'd have nightmares about that fight for years to come.

I heard he is considered a downed opponent so he cannot be kicked. Submissions are pretty much a write off, and it is probably very hard to strike, as you would have to stoop to punch, which can be seen by a mile. I don't know how he could possibly score a takedown and wrestle, let alone get any effective strikes in.

As the video shows, this makes for a boring fight, every time.

He should stick to wrestling; he excels at it and is still very impressive

Circus act pure and simple, I would feel for the guy but he's the one wanting to fight and to me it would be like fighting a dog with no teeth.

Stupid and epic fail for a fun sport to allow this.

get on your knees to take away the vulnerability of him taking out your legs then trade punches, you'll win every time.

He's the Derian Hatcher of MMA. Just constantly elbowing and then running away.

Yep, 2 hours of training learning to throw em on your knee's would end a pitiful fighting career for someone who shouldn't be fighting.

He'd probably try and tie you up if you did this. And if he succeeded at that, he'd have the advantage because he'd be a lot stronger since his weight doesn't include arms and legs.

Wow they figured out how to make MMA more boring.

It's inspiring in a way, but after a while you just start asking yourself, 'why?' I'm not sure I get it entirely.

I was reading a bit about this and some people were saying he was doing this just to prove you can to anything, especially to people with similar disabilities. They seemed to think he wasn't seriously considering a career in MMA. It was more of a statement thing.

Who knows. I'm not sure this would be the sport for him.

Who the hell would actually agree to fight this guy?

Seriously, if you lose, you just lost to guy with no arms and no legs.
If you win, you just beat up a guy with no arms and no legs.

Where is the upside?
