Default #@$%!&*$# Golf clubs got stolen!

Boy I'm pissed.

Went golfing Saturday morning and then came home and put my clubs in the garage (detached). I took the lawn mower out of the garage, so I could mow the lawn, and then locked the door behind me. left the lawnmower outside the garage when I was finished

Monday morning my wife went out to the garage to get her car to drive to work and she noticed the side door to the garage was wide open. This is the first time we noticed anything because we weren't out in the garage at all Saturday evening or all day Sunday.

She called me out to look at it and I noticed that my golf clubs, which I had leaning against the wall next to the side door were no longer there.

My wife thinks she may have left the door unlocked sometime late Saturday afternoon after she went into the garage to get something. She can't remember if she locked it again or not. Anyways, when it was discovered the door was open, it was definitely unlocked at that time.

My insurance policy has a $500 deductible. Replacement cost for my clubs would be about $1000. For the $500 I'll get from the insurance company I don't even think I'll bother making a claim because guaranteed after I make a claim my rates will go up upon renewal. @!#%$&*@!!

I guess no more golf for me this year as I really can't afford to buy a decent set right now... what with buying and moving into a new house in a month from now and all the associated costs that entails.

@#!$%&*#$!! thieves!

What neighbourhood did this happen in?

Be careful with you garage in the next little while. The theif could assume that theres going to be a shiny new replacement set of clubs in the garage ready to be pilfered.

Man, that sucks. I had my garage broken into about 2 years ago and had a looooooooong list of stuff stolen (over $10,000.00).

Hit the local pawn shops, they might turn up somewhere. I scoured the ones around me and never found anything, but it's worth a try. You may even find someone else's stolen clubs for $100.00........

As far as new clubs go, hit up the boxing day sales at golf town. Yes, it's a long ways away but the deals are awesome. I picked up a new set of callaway X18's, a white hot putter, a demo callaway driver and 3 wood, and a bag for $1000.00.

I'd double check to make sure your rates will in fact go up.
I'm not sure if it's the same as with car insurance, but when my car got broken into, it didn't affect my insurance rates at all.
Just a thought.

A claim on property insurance probably will effect rates. Not too much but it would depend on the insured, and the policy options.

I would be super pissed if any of my sports equipment was stolen, because I would be done that sport for at least a year.

I know it's somewhat racist to say, but I don't think the clubs are theirs. I think they're stolen, so I always make sure to close the garage door when I am working on the back yard.

My thinking is this: why would they be walking towards the Buffalo Run golf course, with golf clubs from Woodbine? If they were golfing, they'd go from their place on the reserve. Mind you, I know many Native people who don't live on the reserve, but I just find it a little fishy...

More evidence: I know Buffalo Run has a lax dress code, but these kids are not dressed for golf at all.

Some great advice here, such as this:

I returned from the States six weeks ago and, damn, I see my nice mountain bike is not in my garage. I was mighty pissed. For over a week I stewed about it thinking it was stolen. Then I see my son (who doesn't live with us but staying in our house for a few days while we were away and had some friends over) and I ask him if any of his friends had been in my garage.

No, why, he says. Because my mountain bike is missing. Oh, he says, I borrowed it; it's at his house. I was pissed that he took it and didn't tell me, but that's better than having it stolen.

Srry to hear that Rerun!

Golf Town has thier annual demo event in October. You can get some great deals on slightly used clubs. Got some Cleveland Hibore woods at a fraction of the cost.

You could also try Ebay for slightly used clubs also.

You might also want to file a report with the police. Sometimes B&E thieves are caught along with the stuff they stole.

Rough, man. I feel your pain. A couple years ago my truck got broken in to and they took my clubs. It was especially brutal because they left my friend's clubs behind. Yes, mine were definitely nicer clubs. And then to top it off, the also stole the beer I had in a cooler and then raided my ashtray for change and canadian tire money. BAS**RDS!

You also have to watch those damn natives when you ride your bike or walk your dog in that park that seperates Braeside and the reserve. Those aholes do the old "walk by and casually try your door to see if it's locked" routine. I saw 3 or 4 of them doing this up on that one service road there, so I've started parking my car a couple blocks into Braeside, and then I just bike to the path.

Hey I just thought of something. I have an old set of irons that in pretty decent shape. They aren't the best clubs (smooth tempo) but you could borrow them until you get replacements. I know its just irons but hey its a start.
