Good article, but it's funny that some news in Canada, is about Canada being on the news in the States. That's like earlier this year when Saskatchewan was on the front page of CNN.com for having a booming economy, it was news on CTV Regina. But it's good they are noticing us. Especially about Afghanistan.

At least 2 posters have expressed this sentiment. I don't get it. What's the big deal? Why would we care if the Americans 'noticed' us?????

CNN is a pseudo mouthpiece for Saint Obama. He doenst want Canada to leave Afghanistan, and thinks that if he gets his media outlet buddies to pander to our very shallow nature of "oh wow, US TV mentioned us, lets all party and get drunk".

It will be interesting if the Libs or NDP change their stance on the issue based on changing public opninon that now the US are noticing us that maybe we should "stay the course"

I think because if someone american was to actually read that, then they might realize that there are other countries helping in the war (its not all USA). Even for CNN, the see that the war in Iraq is not the only war, and that Afghanistan is an important issue. I dunno, maybe I'm just rambling.

I dunno... people generally appreciate being noticed for doing good work?

True enough but thats not the way it came across to me. It had a different quality. Similar to what mykalberta posted: "oh wow, US TV mentioned us."

Do we need that kind of validation from America?

I don't think it is validation being looked for, but when we do have troops over there sacrificing their lives and there are guys like that jack-off from Fox network show who seem not to care, it is reassuring that not all our efforts are being overlooked or minimized.

We don't need to be noticed but it is nice not to be forgotten.

I take the "America is noticing us" as containing some intended humour on the OP's part rather than a legit appreciation of validation.
