I would like to add to this....

yes it is free and we all love free....but I had a bad experience with Carfax....I bought a vehicle and used Carfax to help cover my bases...as well as a prepurchase inspection....all was well.

I think it was in a thread on here from a few months ago about that CBC consumer report on used cars.....it had me a little curious\worried so I ran it on Carproof (the better one) it turned up 2 accidents of 4000 and 14000 dollars damage, including frame damage!! the story obviously doesn't end there as i'm still dealing with it....

but just my experience with carfax.

correct. not everything is even reported to carfax/calgaryfinder.com/carproof.com sometimes you will find more info on a different site then its counterpart.

i like calgaryfinder.com reports cause its free and clean. sometimes they also include data from carfax. its pretty neat.

If you are in the US, use carfax, if you are in Canada use Carproof.

Carproof cover Canadian cars much better than Carfax does.

yeah of course but carproof is not a competitor of carfax.com /calgaryfinder.com

carproof.com is a canadian site that goes into insurance and other databases, very deep, and it costs 60 dollars for the full service.

Carfax is not reliable. CBC's program linked below.
