I checked all the usual suspects but no one has any. Anybody know where I can get some sandbags to hold down my tenty-garage thingy

I hear Manitoba has plenty of them...

Around here you're probably going to have a hell of a time. I tried buying sidewalk melty salt a month ago and hardware stores and gas stations laughed at me. Seasonal, y'know?

Two options I can think of that might help are

a) find your own sacks and fill them with gravel

b) take the four that I pulled out of the back of my truck and left in my uncle's garage (free!)

You could try the Volker Stevin yard on 54th Ave. When I worked there they had tons of them, they might be willing to sell you a couple.

I got some in December at The Home Depot to put in the bed my truck. I'm pretty sure they have them all the time.

Yeah, define "usual suspects."

I think Co-op gas bar usually has them, and I would think Burnco would too. Other options would be garden centres.

well I tried home depot, crappy tire, a few petrocanada gas stations, princess auto. Most of them only carry them in beginning of winter.

I'll try burnco, or uncle 4x4's garage if he is nearby

Go the redneck way...

Check with your local garage / tire shop for broken tire weights. Then get 2 pair of old jeans and some tie wire.

Tie up one end and fill with broken weights. Close open end.

Repeat as necessary.......

Something I just thought of- seeing as it appears you might have a trip to Burnco in your future anyways..... would cinder blocks work better for this than sand bags? I'm just thinking you can tie a rope around a cinder block in a way that it won't come off.

Just from my experience- sometimes you want to make sure that something will make it to the bottom of a lake.....

1: Buy a bag.
2: Dig up some sand
3: Put sand in bag.

Yeah I was gonna suggest filling some old inner tubes with pea gravel and tie up the ends. The inner tubes last way longer than those bags they sell at Canadian Tire etc........
