Today I shall take all of my crushed beer boxes to the green bin. But I'm driving them there.

Batteries... I have a whole collection of dead batteries that I want to recycle... anyone know where in this city you can take them?

That will be my contribution for the day!

My contribution...

I turned off my lights before I left for work this morning. You see for someone who cares as much about the environment as I do, I treat every work day like it was earth day.

###### Earth Day.

There's an electronic recycling place in the Currie Baracks where they take everything electronic. They might take batteries.??.

I was never consulted about this.

But you care enough to post in this thread...

It's just for awareness. It's been around for decades and sadly it only really started to gain traction in the past few years.

Anyone know what fuel the recycling trucks run on? Wonder what the carbon cost of pickup-recycling is versus the community bins solution.

I just can't help but wonder what tangible amount of time they will toss the word 'earth' in front of next.

"Quick earth second is approaching......it's here" *turns off light switch*

Ahhh yeah there's that false sense of entitlement knowing that I've done essentially nothing.

Isn't spreading awareness great?

Wasn't it earth day a few weeks ago when everyone turned out the lights?

IKEA will take them (near the returns desk). I think I've seen dead battery bins at some Future Shops near the store exit also.

Its not for awareness.

Its so a select few can try to feel better than the rest of us and have the CBC report it as an actual worthy event.

I walk to work every day, on average only drive 7-8X per month at max 50Km for the weekly inter-city trip. And I live in a condo so I am more green friendly than 95% of the people who live in Calgary.

And yet I dont care about some leftists green policy movement that attempts to shame people into thinking more about the environment. In fact the whole idea makes me sick.

I have a bunch of old paint/tarnish cans that I need to get rid of, there is some left over paint in a lot of these and I don't want to dispose of it in the dumpster, anyone know where I can drop these off?

Pour it down the storm sewer. Today is Earth day, she can take another one for the team.
