Default Razor Help

So after shaving today to prepare for my playoff beard i decided that I am sick of my razor. The only time it does a half-decent job is when im shaving after going at least a week without doing so. If i try to shave every day or every other day it does the worst job ever. I dont even notice a difference on my neck and it hurts to shave my neck A LOT. I use a Shick Quattro, the one that like "pulses". I would prefer not to buy an electric shaver. Which razors to people recommend?

If you get nasty skin irritation, try just shaving in a downwards motion only...never up.

I hate shaving more than anything. I have a beard trimmer that I just use when it gets a little long... it takes twice as long... so Im not sure why I prefer it.

I suggest Razor Ramon.

There are a few products out there to help with razor burn and ingrown hairs. I was using a product called Bump Stopper. It worked pretty good but you needed to apply it twice a day. I just started using a stronger version (can't remember the name). It works immediately. Smells like straight alcohol. Keeps the bumps and irritation away.

And you don't have to worry about that pesky job anymore.

Sometimes I put some conditioner on before actually shaving, but for the actual shave I always stand directly in the water stream and there is no need for shaving cream/gel

Using a mach3 or a fusion or an electric would always completely tear up my neck if I used them on a daily basis. It was awful but I found a way around it (at least for me):
Shaving soap + badger hair brush + single bladed safety razor.
No more nicks, cuts or irritation on my neck. I now actually really enjoy shaving.

My advice would be try tossing out the canned cream/foam/gel and the gimicky 10 blade razors.

Do any of you guys get nasty swollen, infected in-grown hairs?

I always shave with the grain of the hair, and I only use my blades twice, but I get them along my jaw line for some reason.....

Does anyone have any special secret tricks to rid these things?!
