Default Help PLease!! SPECIAL NEEDS TAXIS??

I need to get my son to his pediatrician appointment tomorrow and my wife doesnt drive. Its been 3 years of waiting and we cannot miss this appointment as our son is autistic and this pediatrician is the only one we can see.

Has anyone had to get a child into a TAXI and or do you know of any cabs that will do this and have car seats for children?

I am kind of desperate and need some ideas quick. I have to work and can ill afford to take the time off. I'd ask extended family in town but we really dont have any.

thx for any input.

I have a friend with MS and the taxi vans he book were always equipped to deal with his wheelchair, so some taxi services must have them. He also got the ones that are all black with gold lettering (black top?).

I can't find one that actually provides child seats though.

What about Access Calgary? I think they have a bus, but I don't know how time sensitive it is (i.e. if it would be good for appointments at specific times), or how much notice they need.

Access Calgary transports people with mental and physical disabilities. They have buses and they have a contract that uses Checker cabs. I'm 95% sure you have to apply for an Access # as it's a subsidized program. But I don't think they would have car seats anyways... I think it's mainly for adults.

What about the bus?

Phone the cab companies and ask them. They are open 24/7. You can arrange a designated pick-up time and the whole bit.

Putting a car seat into the back seat of a cab shouldn't be a problem.

You have to be approved for the Access Calgary buses, as well as book a few days ahead of time.

Try this:
