being 5 minutes late after doing CHARITY work with kids on behalf of the team!!

I wish nothing but the worst for the Expo stealers, though Dukes is likely on a very short leash for being a pretty bad guy when he was in Tampa.

If there is one guy in the league that deserves to be treated like this it is Elijah Dukes.

Their best player?
The guy has career highs of 13 HR, 44 RBI's and a whopping .264 BA.
He has talented but he is far from their best player, even on a team as bad as the Nationals.

"Dukes has been one of the only Washington players to get off to a good start — he's hitting .323 with two homers and six RBI in nine games"

Having a good start is different than being their best player, especially when you pull garbage like this all the time.
I would think that being the best player involves more than just putting up mediocre stats. Being relied upon to not only show up for games but try once or twice would probably be involved as well.

From Wikipedia on Good 'ol Elijah:
Dukes has been arrested at least three times for battery, and once for assault.[7] According to court records, he fathered at least five children with four women between 2003 and 2006.[7]
On May 23, 2007 it was reported that his wife filed a restraining order after he threatened to kill her.[8] On June 12, a 17-year-old foster child who was living in the care of a relative of Dukes accused him of impregnating her.[9] Police said the sex was apparently consensual.[9] When the girl confronted Dukes, he allegedly got angry and threw a bottle of Gatorade at her.[9]
Dukes has received anger management training.[7] When Dukes was traded to the Nationals, the team also hired an ex-police officer in the role of "Special Assistant: Player Concerns". This person accompanies Dukes everywhere to ensure that he keeps himself free of trouble.[7]

The best Elijah Dukes moment comes from his mom.

There's a reason he is doing charity work... He will never make it - some people are trying to make him Josh Hamilton V2 - difference is Hamilton was a good guy that did bad, Dukes is a bad guy doing worse...

Charity work? It appears he was paid $500 by the little league team for his appearance. And now they're raising another $500 to pay his fine! Unreal!
