Default Traffic Ticket Question

So the GF got a speeding ticket and since I work DT, I want to go in her place and talk to the crown so she doesnt have to drag our new baby with her. It'd just be alot easier for me to go instead of her.

So basically my question is this. Does the person that gets the ticket have to go or can someone else just go instead?

Thanks guys.

And for all those posters that say we should just suck it up and pay the full ticket because she was guilty of speeding, don't even bother. You'll just derail the thread

Cheers

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I have no idea, but I don't think you could.

Were you with her when she was stopped?

You can have an agent. Can be friend or a hired agent like a traffice ticket firm or a lawyer.

See the booklet linked. Good luck. Have a story about your wife staying home with the kid or you are likely hooped. A better plan may be to go with her and take care of the kid while she talks to the first appearance person. Good luck.

Sorry. I have a right to plead guilty to a lesser charge. And I am going to exercise that right.

Right. And according to the link provided by Titan, is also a right under provincial laws.

Not sure what's wrong with excersising a right that the government makes available to it's citizens

no you don't. You have a right to plead guilty but it is up to the crown to give you a lesser charge or not.

I'll pay. I'm just hoping it would be for a lower amount and/or no demerits

Money is tight right now so every dollar helps.

I know I know, I'm in the Flames poker tournament, but I would not have entered if my financial situation at the time I commited was how it is looking now.

If all you want to do is visit the JP and plead guilty to a lesser charge, you don't have to go on the date that's on the ticket. You can go anytime, so maybe she will still be able to do it. Just saying, because the odds of her getting a break is greater if she does it instead of having you go for her.

I'm under the impression that a traffic ticket is you being charged with an offense, and you are innocent until proven guilty. What kind of system do you guys think we have? Have you ever gotten a ticket? Aren't you being charged with breaking the law when you get one? That means charged, not necessarily guilty!!!!

That means that you should go talk about the ticket, fight it if you can. In our legal system, if people can get off with murder, you should be able to get your gf off of a traffic ticket.

Yeah, well, y'all can go and give him the self-righteous and classic CP BS about just paying the fine because afterall, he's (or the g/f, anyway) guilty... And I kinda agree. But lately I'm pretty ticked off about how the cops are just hanging out in fishing holes. I've got most of them figured out on the roads I drive daily (and I do alot of driving), but every so often I get caught. Now, it wouldn't bother me if I was cruising around and actually speeding, but the latest ticket I got was for going 64 in a 50 zone on 14th street.
It really annoys me that they hang out in that little spot and catch you for drivig the road instead of actually catching some of these a-holes that are weaving in and out of traffic and gunning it down Crowchild. Yes I was speeding. Yes I'm an evil, guilty man. But FFS, on a beautiful sunny afternoon at 3pm, people are just driving the road and keeping pace with the rest of the cars.
Whatever. I'll pay the damn ticket. I just think it's pretty goofy that they've got dorks set up, hiding behind sandwich boards and lamp posts clocking people that are driving the road. Go and hang out in a construction zone (with actual workers persent, please?). Go and gaurd some of the intersections that have high collision rates. School zones. Playground zones (even my nemesis playground zone)... Just do something useful. You're not doing a damn thing to increase safety by lurking around spots where there's a hill and no lights for 100 meters. You're fricken fishing. It's BS.
