Perfect opportunity to collect some unemployment during the playoffs!
Sounds pretty lame that they made you the scapegoat, but you probably don't want to work for a company that treats employees that way? This is Calgary, you should get bonuses for keeping tabs on the Flames whilst working.

Yes I did. Just paid $1100 for the first 2 rounds yesterday in fact. Might have to sell a few more than I was planning on. (don't bother asking, I have a long list of people who are interested.)

It's great that you're coming out of this situation positively but I don't think that this is a good idea. It just seems spiteful and will not really benefit yourself in any way.

Well you don't know me that well then.
Revenge and spite are what I live for (half kidding). I know if I don't do it now, I won't do it, because once I settle down I won't care. But I'm totally about revenge. So no I won't do it. I am highly susceptible to peer pressure so I was kind of hoping CP would egg me on so I'd have the gusto to just do it.

Fair enough Have the people that you would talk to the district manager about screwed you over? If so, then definitely, go for it. I would too (maybe).

I've definitely said before, and a few posters know that I work there because I've either told them when we met, or they saw me working there.
Either way it was a crappy retail job, that I'm way too old and successful to be working at in the first place. They were paying me very well though, for a PT afterschool kind of job. I'm actually kind of ashamed I stayed that long. Most of the people that worked there were 17-22 and I'm 24.

They fired you because you make more money. That's what it sounds like to me anyway.
Good luck with your new start!

They definitely have not, unless one of them sold me out and I just don't know about it, but I don't think so. I even consider one or two of them friends, even if they are crappy employees.

I say do it. Fata them. I've never had a problem screwing over past employers/co-workers. But that's just the kind of person I am. If I sacrifice my happiness to work somewhere and they mess with me, you damn right I'm going for revenge.
I hate work.

But if you're looking for someone on here to hire you (as you seem to be in your last paragraph), you're not really showing yourself to be a mature employee. I'm not trying to be a prick but most people running a business, or in a position to hire someone, are typically looking for someone that is responsible and mature.
I would suggest giving yourself a few days to calm down before doing anything you might regret later.

Of course. I meant that last part to be sort of in jest.
First, I don't honestly expect anyone is going to have a viable job opportunity on CP. Second, I am much more mature than that last paragraph would lead one to believe. That being said I do have knowledge of several events that would certainly get some people fired. I even let my boss know that I did, but wouldn't tell her who was involved. I even told her what the incidents were, but not who did them. I made a point of letting them know I have more class than to just sell people out like they were doing to me. I guess now I'm just feeling that it would've been nice for her to know that they were making the wrong decision.
That is also not to say that I condone stealing or drinking on the job (events which I didn't witness but had knowledge of) but that my boss is making a huge mistake and firing the wrong person. Part of me feels that if I told her that stuff she'd realize they are the bad employees and that I was a really good hire and that firing me was a big mistake.
Good riddance I guess. If she's that bad of a boss let her continue to employ those losers.
And to anyone who wants to know where it was the company I worked for was bought out and taken over in Nov 2007. There are numerous stores in Calgary but only about half of them changed over.

Sorry to hear about that. That sort of behavior from management makes me sick. It hate it when people who you think are on good terms with, and that you work hard for, don't even hesistate to turn two-face and throw you under the bus. They could have laid you off, but actually firing with cause is pretty terrible, especially if it is as you say "to set an example".

Can't collect EI if you get fired with cause. If you are laid off, yes; fired, no.
