ER Ending this April after 15 Years
I managed to catch ER for the first time in years when randomly channel surfing last night and wow, they brought Anthony Edwards as Dr. Green back for a very well done episode. A lot of the old (and killed off) cast came back too (it was a flashback type scenario). Reminded me of the old ER that I used to like back in the late 90s. Strange how that when I think of it, there's only been 10 years of my life that ER hasn't been on Thursday nights on NBC.
They just confirmed that George Clooney has returned and has filmed his scenes as well and a lot of other things are happening. Next week's episode has William H. Macy returning. I'm not normally a TV watcher, I haven't enjoyed watching TV for years now and there hasn't been a show that has captured my attention or made me sit down and watch it or look forward to weekly for almost 10 years now. I just don't have that feeling anymore or enjoy anything on the tube... but I think I will watch the rest of the season of ER. This was such a groundbreaking show when it first came out. Now every show looks like it and tries to use it's conventions. In 1993, ER looked like it was a show from today. It was even filmed in widescreen HD back then, 10 years before widescreen TVs became common.

I enjoyed this show for awhile, unfortunately it went on for many too many seasons, but hey if it still got the ratings good for them.

ER became crappy when Anthony Edwards left. It completely died when they killed off Rocket Romano. I haven't watched an episode since.

Around the same time for me. How many times can an ER be bombed, terrorized or shot up?

My wife's a big fan of the show but I never could get into it. I understand that one character was killed after a helicopter dropped on him a second time?
Years ago I watched a "live-to-air" episode because the concept fascinated me. I thought that was great.

I agree, ER was one show I never missed. I wonder what the date is of Clooney's episode. I thought the episode with Dr. Green was very very good.

Me too. There won't be many shows for anybody to watch after this.

Definitely the first say 5 seasons were the best. I love the show, but haven't really watched steadily over the past few years.
I also agree, when Dr. Green died it started to go downhill somewhat.

Too many good people left the show to go to greener pastures only to find that not everyone can be George Clooney.
ER is the *ONLY* show that I buy on DVD; it is easily my favorite TV show of all time. So I'm only on season 9 since that's as far as the DVDs go thus far. But it certainly isn't like when Anthony Edwards/Dr. Greene was running the E.R.. Up until he died, I was buying the DVDs because I absolutely loved the show. Now I think I might be buying them just to say I have the whole set....

the episode where Dr. Greene died was probably one of the best episodes I have ever watched on TV. Just great.
It just becomes stale after being on the air for so long. I mean you got to be kidding me. Uncle Jessie is a doctor?? CUT-IT-OUT!

To think that 15 years ago George Clooney was still a nobody.

i agree that the show went down after Edwards left and especially after Noah Wyle left. But I still haven't missed an episode and this last season has actually surpassed my expectations, especially with all the old cast members coming back.
That Dr Green flashback episode completely brought back the feel of er in the good ol days. I knew about Clooney but it great to hear Macey is coming back as well. (along with Eriq La Salle).

That was the only episode of the series I ever watched. It didn't do anything to compel me to keep watching.
It's hard to believe that ER and Friends both debuted in the same year, and Friends has been off the air for years after what was considered a remarkably long run.

Seeing as the game wasn't the best last night, I ended up watching most of ER.
It was a really good episode. I like William H. Macy.
Great ending I thought.

I watched it, and liked it a lot. I kept watching right up until Noah Wylie left, and even by then it had become pretty "soapy". While the personal stories of the staff were always important, when they became more important than the medical storyline I lost interest.
The storyline with Bob Newhart was very well done, it really showed a different aspect to his acting.
