So outside, i heard a jet engine rumble real low, and go on my deck to see 8 F18sflying in attack formating going straight south. they are flying with their afterburners full on, almost blowing out windows.
There has to be a reason for scrambling F18s going straight south - Anyone with RCAF contacts know whats going on?

Attack formation? Sorry I have to chuckle. Maybe you're an ex-pilot and know what you're talking about, but until I know for sure, I have to chuckle.
A few flew over my building Chaparral last summer. Real low, VERY loud, everything was shaking. But most likely just heading to the airport.
RAF Suffield and RAF YYC never fly that low and dont use CF18s, which these were. They were so low you could easily make them out as CF18s. Also, its odd that they would be going full throttle so low - all my neighbours were outside as it was deafeningly loud.
Probably just a drill or something. I didn't hear anything in the SW.
I remember standing in the Moose Jaw military base a few years ago while the Blue Angels were doing a practice run. They zipped overhead, and you could literally feel the air being sucked out of your lungs. It was pretty intense.
I am not an ex pilot, just played too much Falcon as a kid. I guess I was just excited when I posted, so I am not sure its attack position, but it is as far as I know.
A second wing just went over, same thing low, fast, loud full throttle.
I am familiar with our airforces though, and yes, there arent any jets stationed here, but they could be from our biggest RCAF wing, stationed up in Cold Lake could be going to suffield to do drills with the Brits - I am just saying it cause i have lived in garrison for years and never seen them come over, much less so loud that all my neighbours were outside...
Yeah might be a drill. Could even just be a normal flight. As I mentioned in my first post, those things to seem real freakin loud when they are low.
Ohhhh, here they come as I type this! Yeah last summer was louder. (Not trying to one up you, just saying, I don't think it's an emergency scramble)
EDIT: Was really funny, I was in the middle of typing, 'well nothing here yet, and I'm about as straight south as you get', when I could hear a low rumbling in the distance, haha.)
The CF-18's badly need to be replaced. They were requisitioned 30 years ago in 1979!
