REDVAN got a speeding ticket
Alright, the time has come. Even the mighty speeders of the world have to fall eventually.
Got a speeding ticket this morning for going 21 over. I was speeding, and I was going about 20 over (like I do everywhere, except for residential streets and playground zones). Does anyone know if there are demerits for this, and if one ticket usually affects insurance?
I heard they won't reduce demerits anymore (through CP, the last ticket thread), but I am still going to go down one of these days and check out the whole process, see if I can get something removed, or less fine. Might delay it and then hope the cop doesn't show up. I know it's lame, but if I don't have to pay, why should I? I'm not looking to be sneaky, but if I can get out of it, then I should try. If I can't get out of it, then I'll pay it. Plus, by that time, I might have the cash to pay it.
Just figured I'd let you guys know that the notorious REDVAN has fallen victim to being caught speeding. BAH!

Plead guilty to a lesser offense to the prosecutor. They'll reduce the fine and demerits. Show up early or you'll wait for hours. You go to the counter, give your ticket, they'll send you to wait. A guy will come out of his office (or hers) and call your name. If you're going to full on fight the ticket (which Ive never done) its easier to mail it in rather than waste a day going down just to plead not-guilty.
From the traffic court I have stood in, the old "was your laser working" bit doesn't work.

Jayems pretty much described the process down to a tee. Good luck with that!

Where were you dinged?
A co-worker went down and got demerits reduced last month, so it can still be done.
I personally believe that if you know you did the deed that you should pay the ticket. But you have the right to go before a JP, so feel free. I just wish there was a consequence for doing this if you don't really have any defense other than "I don't want to pay".

Not looking to fully fight the ticket unless I can get away with it. I've never done this sort of thing before, so not sure if I just reschedule a few times, and the cop forgets or doesn't show, will the whole thing just get dropped?
I'd really just like no demerits, because that is what is important.

try to get the ticket assigned to the registered owner...then you pay the fine but like a Photo Radar ticket you don't lose points.

Just outside of downtown on Bow Trail. Good spot, I didn't see them until it was too late.
And I don't want to pay... but I will if I have to.

My buddy recently got a ticket, and the court date was on a Saturday. He thought it was weird, but he showed to the court house anyways. Of course, no one was there. Went the next day, approached the counter, said the date on the ticket told him to come yesterday and no one was there. The lady took the ticket, stamped it void or whatver, and said sorry and have a nice day.

If you go down and bargain with the duty Crown, they will drop it down without much issue, but they are no longer allowed to make it a "registered owner" ticket. I am guessing for 21 over it's 4 demerits and $129. They will drop it to 2 and $78.
P.S. Unless you agree with Tower, and then the bigger the ticket the better, as you can use it to buy your groceries.

I would suggest you make a photocopy of the ticket and have it framed. Then someday down the road you can show it to your kids and give them the story of how the legendary REDVAN got his first speeding ticket
Seriously, Your best bet is showing up and the cop is not there. Happened to me a few years back when i went to fight a ticket.

Where are all the hallmoniters that think you are wasting tax dollars doing this? They will tell you to be a man and pay up.
I think if you can get it knocked down, then do it up
