I have a video that just won't play and I can't find the correct codec for it to work, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hey Adam try this http://www.pcw.co.uk/downloads/1157193 It's Codec finder... you drag the video file into the program and it tells you which codec you need. You then Google the name of the codec is list's and download the codec.

Only advice I can give ya.

K-Lite Codec Pack... all-in-one file. Includes all video and audio codecs you'll ever need.

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm

edit: Handy utility SuperChuckles... I've been looking for something like that.

Well you might want to try the Xvid Codec if you haven't already. Before you do that though try this, I use Ace Divx Player which plays any videos, even ones that WMP or realyplayer can't, so you could give it a try. Thats all I can think of right now so good luck.

Edit: ACE video player link

Interesting...

I would recommend using a player other than Windows Media Player. Sometimes I will have the codec installed, but for some reason WMP won't play it. Have you tried the DivX player?

No no no! Do not use a player like Divx player!

There is one player available called VLC which has built in codecs for nearly everything. It's a little unwieldly but I've never had problems playing a file.

Another good player is Media Player Classic with DefilerPak installed.
