Fox News Jihad
I'm sure by now that most of you have seen or heard about the disgusting and unfunny Red Eye show on Fox News where Greg Gutfeld insulted the Canadian Forces on the same day that we lost 4 more soldiers in Afghanistan. Today Fox News and not Gutfeld issued a half assed apology. It would be nice if we flooded their email and showed how disgusted we are with their half assed news network and their unfunny comedy.
I sent an email to them redeye@foxnews.com
Dear redeye on fox news
I thought I would take time away from getting a pedicure while running along the beach in white capri pants to send you an email. As a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces I am reacting with complete disgust over the comments on Red Eye about the Canadian Armed Forces and their role in Afghanistan. On a day where we buried 4 more young men who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country your loud mouthed unfunny comedian decided to completely disrespect one of America's few friends who's actually pulling their weight in the battle against the Taliban in Afghanistan.
His comments over the Canadian Forces desire to take a one year period to rebuild, rearm and recruit was disgusting, idiotic and reprehensible, its made an already unfunny small person look like a complete ass, and Fox News' and his apology are certainly not accepted by myself and many others in the small but proud community of Armed Forces Members. A brief press statement saying that your sorry is certainly not enough of a gesture to satisfy anyone.
I guess Greg Gutfeld in his stupidy forgot that the Canadian Forces were there to assist American citizen's in peril during the Hurricane Katrina disaster, maybe this pathetic individual forgot that Canadian's opened their homes to stranded American's during the 9/11 tragedy and that as part of the Norad agreement, Canadian CF-18's patrolled the skies over American cities. Perhaps Greg needs to brush up on the fact that Canadian Soldiers have bled and died next to American's soldiers in Afghanistan and Korea, they died on the beaches during the D-Day invasion and helped protect American convoys and ports during WWII. I'm not asking for gratitude from Greg or Fox news because sometimes thats a lot to ask from our neighbour to the south and we accept that sometimes American sefl involvement oversees all, but we do ask that you respect our contribution, and you respect the fact that over the last few years we have buried some of our best and brightest in the course of serving with Americans in a far away land.
A press statement isn't enough, if Greg Gutfeld and his panel have any integrety a full on air apology is in order, and if they can't bring themselves to do that then maybe they should show the same integrety and bravery as the Canadian Forces have shown in Afghanistan and resign.
But that would be too much to ask.
Sincerely Yours
.

I use to watch that show when I was falling asleep but I went to the fresh prince route.
I don't get what the hell is so funny about losing troops in a war. What a F'n Tard.

You can tell he's really holding back too, he's probably wanting to be much harsher in the interview.

I wouldn't mind it if we just took away FoxNews' license to broadcast in Canada. I only watch it the odd time for the Gong Show laughs anyways.

I'm surprised the Canadian government didn't just scoff at it. Fox News is less of a news channel than the Daily Show. WAY less.

Wow, that guy is a piece of work. Here is quite the quote from him
Quote:
Gutfeld, the host of the controversial segment on Fox’s Red Eye show, said he never intended to make light of Canadian military efforts in Afghanistan.
“However, I realize that my words may have been misunderstood,” Gutfeld said in a statement released by Fox News. “It was not my intent to disrespect the brave men, women and families of the Canadian military, and for that I apologize.

Yeah, everyone "misunderstood" him.
I think we all understood perfectly.

absolutely disgusting. Then you wonder why everybody hates Americans. What a bunch of tools (not all Americans, just those idiots on the panel).

I've not seen that clip until now. I'm actually very angry.
As a Canadian with American roots, I've come to understand the occasional bit of ribbing, or even ignorance. But that was just bully pulpit crap. Rick Mercer had it right: If you're doing satire, be truthful, don't be an a-hole, and don't be a bully.
Captain, don't forget when Canada helped out America in one of its darkest moments during the Iranian Hostage Crisis.

Not everybody hates americans and they're not all a bunch of tools. The guy that we're discussing is american and indeed a tool. But I'll roll out many a canadian that I'm just as disgusted by (Sheila Copps, anyone?).
Just chill on the reaction. This guy does deserve to stub his toe on a landmine, but you can't throw all americans under the bus because of his ######bag "comedy".

definitely agree, but, i think there are a few of us on here that can certainly vouch for the fact that when travelling in ANY other foreign country, there is a LARGE gap b/w how americans are treated vs canadians.
their attitudes change immediatley when they find out you're canadian vs american.
i realize that most of that stems from ww1/2 etc etc...however, things like this certainly don't help.
i agree not all americans are tools, but the fact that they (and i use that loosely since it was a select few who did it, and not "all" americans) would even think for a second that this would be remotley hilarious definitely warrants several punches to the head(s).
so, i sort of have to half a$$ed agree with previous comment about americans wondering why everyone hates them.
as for equally dim canadians....i can think of a few PM's...just for starters...and can *sometimes* understand how americans could come to think canadians are dim.
luckily not all canadians are that dim either.

That part about Sarah Palin needing to be worried was too much. Fox News is going to get what's coming to them. America is better than that.
