Default Furnace fan all the time, or on auto?

Just polling to see what most people do/prefer - leave the furnace fan on auto, or do you leave it running all the time?

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

The arguments I've heard are that its easier on the motor (no start/stop stress), and that it evens out warm/cool areas in the house.

Oh, and also because I was buying a new filter today and looking at the $40 electrostatic re-usable ones, and they say right on the package that they are more effective if the air is circulating all the time..

I dunno, hence the unscientific poll...

I worked in the sheet metal industry in my former life time!

I would recommend getting a programmable thermostat and leaving it on auto.

If you don't want to pay the extra for a programmable thermostat, this is what I did.

In the summer when it was hot outside I left the fan on 24-7 because it helped circulate the air in the house, keeping it cooler

In the winter you would only want the fan to come on when your thermostat calls for heat.

If you have an HRV (Heating Recovery Ventillator) that doesn't have its own dedicated ductwork to each room, then you should run the fan 24/7 in the winter as well.

If you don't have an HRV, then you should get one.
