Default US States Sales Tax Refund?

Just wondering do any CPers here know if we can get the sales tax we paid in the states, say on a trip down to the states for vacation, back as a refund? I recently went down to Vegas and bought some stuff and paid the local sales tax in Nevada (@ 7.75%)

I was just wondering if I can get a refund back for the sales tax that I paid there, since I am not a US citizens/Nevada state resident. I thought I read somewhere that if you are a visitor or something, you are exempt from the sales tax for the goods you buy, and therefore qualify for a sales tax refund? I think you fill out a form or some kind?
If not, I guess the state of Nevada just took away some money from me! But I guess it is worth it since they have some awesome deals down there!

Thanks!

I know that in Washington and Louisiana, you can show your driver's license (maybe passport in your case) and they will remove the sales tax from the price at the register. I don't know if it is possible after the fact.

Hey, just look at it as supporting the Nevada public education system!

Edit:
"REFUND OF SALES TAX
TO OUT-OF-STATE RESIDENTS
Sales tax is levied at the time tangible personal property
is sold and delivery taken in the State of Nevada. There
are no statutory provisions for the refund of Nevada
sales tax based upon the fact that tangible personal
property is purchased by a person who is not a resident
of Nevada or a citizen of the United States of America."

Sorry, bro. Nevada is not so accomodating!

Come to Montana, no sales tax!!!

Oh man. Guess my sales tax money is gone to the spending of Nevada residents.
Thanks very much for your help Montana Moe!

Are there any good outlets down there in Montana? Near Great Fall I presume?
Any suggestions? The max I will go for is probably a 5-6 hrs drive.

Not really any outlets down here that I can think of. We are getting a Cabela's outdoor sporting goods store here in Billings, but if you're in Calgary, that's a bit of a drive.

Bummer, thanks anyways Montana Moe.

Compared to the prices here in Canada, the Americans have it good.
The mark up here is laughable. Retailers must think we Canadians are rich, or the dollar still trading at 60cents!

Nevada, Las Vegas in particular, is a tourist mecca. It would be unheard of for a government to give up that cash cow

I guess it depends on where you are for the pricing. I found that a lot of the prices were the exact same as here on some things and then on others the prices were amazing, but not consistent. One golf club I have been eyeing up here for months now is the same price right to the penny down there...but then some other smaller items were really cheap there.

Default Hawaii state sales tax refund

Does anyone know if Hawaii gives a refund on their state sales tax for Canadians? I know that North Dakota does.

Groceries are MUCH cheaper down here..

I think some states have a law that to get your sales tax back if you're not from there, the total spent has to be more than 100 dollars (it might be 250, Im not sure). They dont want to go through the hassle of giving someone 50 cents back if thats what they're owed.

My wife always shops in Kalispell. We always bring back a giant cooler full of butter and cheese since it is half the price even with exchange.
