I have had my resume posted on monster and workopolis for years, and I occasionally get people calling or emailing me out of the blue.

When I've looked for jobs in the past, the federal governments job bank is also pretty good it would seem: http://jb-ge.hrdc-drhc.gc.ca/Intro_eng.aspx

My current job was found by me looking on calgaryjobshop.ca

Talking to my former manager who was also one of my references, he said that they have started using that as well because it stops the avalanche of resumes pouring in from other countries.
