I HATE the OILERS!!!!
Rant mode on:
Just for the record, I lived for the Winnipeg Jets. Unfortunately, as you all know, the Jets moved to Arizona . Yet, I love the Flames they are the perfect replacement to the Jets. They actually win games and are successful. Unlike the Oilers, they are a class act.
While we are on the subject, did I mention that the city of Calgary is far superior than Edmonton. I'm from Winnipeg, and I realize this. And the rest of Canada knows this. edmonton sucks. I hope they meet Calgary in the first round just so the Flames can annihilate them. I hate the Oilers. They suck and so does edmonton.
Rant mode off!

PS...im fairly drunk so don't read too much into what I'm saying. I just wanted to let everyone know that Calgary is a much better city than Deadmonton.

The Oilers suck, and the city of Edmonton is a hole.

I've never been and even though it gets a rough go on these boards, I'd still like to visit Edmonton.

... really?
What do you hope to see?
In Edmonton... you can go to the movies... go to a comedy club... go for a walk in the park... or you could just stay at home at do that.

If you ever get out here, I'd be happy to show you around. It's a nice city - in summer.

Very true. In the summer, its a great place to live (less great to visit, sorry MG) but in the winter - oh god.

There's also the shooting range at the mall. More chain restaurants and big box stores then you could ever need. And a surprising number of car dealerships on their main bar strip.

How can I look down my noses at those in Edmonton, like everyone on CP, if I don't experience it first hand?
Honestly - you can say the above about a lot of places in Canada and the world, but they are still worthy of a visit. Those "There's no place like this, Ontario" commercials that everyone in Ontario hates to death, they show a bunch of stuff like going to a club or going shopping in some quaint little store... it's all stuff you can do elsewhere, but people will still come just cause it's different for them.

Native Calgarian here, and, hey, I like Edmonton. Hate the Oilers and Eskimos, but the city's dandy. A lot less brown grass in the summer, too.

School is pretty decent here. UA that is, but besides that... I want to shoot my self every day just living here. I live close to the university on Whyte, and I've never EVER heard so many darn sirens go off at night. Oh yes. What else, the pot holes. Right now they are even worse since they're all filled with water so you can't avoid them. It pretty much goes like this 'driving peacefully then BAM and it looks like your car just hit Old Faithful'

Ah, the potholes. On those, you just hope a bird dies and falls into the potholes, and thus filling the pothole up.
Two birds with one stone
