Default BB Curve randomly Resetting

I've only had this thing for a day and a half.

Randomly when checking message or doing other stuff the unit resets itself.

It appears to power down and re-boot randomly.

I brought it back to the dealer and he replaced the battery.

Didn't help.

Anybody else have this issue.

I've seen a few bad applications do this. Have you downloaded anything lately?

Might just be a DOA unit.

Mine did the same thing.

I took it back to the dealer to get a new one and they dialed the number that requested the latest tower info and that has solved my problem. My salesperson said my BB was way out of date on the tower info as it took quite a while to download the latest info when it is usually rather instant. I used to know the numbers to dial, (# something), but if you just take it in and request them to do it, they should know what you are talking about.

My brand new curve used to reboot 10-15 times a day, since then it has yet to reboot.

Are you talking about the Telus self activation number? If so dial *22803. If not, disregard this message.

To the OP. Check out crackberry.com for all your BB info needs. If you do a search of the forums you will find answers to most BB technical questions.

Yeah, I think that's it.

I was honestly ready to smash my new BB, but doing this step made a complete difference.

I suggest the OP does this and see how it works out.

I updated the software to the latest tonight...

We'll see if it makes a difference.

I did the *22803 thing as well.

I have had to use the self activation number twice. The first time I didn't know what the hell was wrong with my BB. I could not send or receive calls (when I called somebody it rang busy, when they called me it went right to voice mail), or send or receive texts. I took it in to my local Telus store and they got it fixed right up. The second time I knew what was going on and fixed it myself.

According to Telus I was "knocked off the network". I can tell if this is the case by looking at my data status. If it doesn't say 1XEV, I know that I have been knocked off the network.

To the Op, it sounds like your experiencing something completely different. If a battery pull isn't working I would take it in to the store you bought it from. I never have problems with my Curve resetting itself ever.

Check this thread out at Crackberry.

http://forums.crackberry.com/f52/random-resets-188938/

I didn't have to time to read through it, but it sounds like it is a discussion about your current problem Nufy.

Edit: Looks like your Curve is screwed. Take it back to Telus. Tell them you have done the battery pull and you still have problems. Looks like they will have to replace it.

Dealer already swapped batteries for me.

Might have to get it replaced.

Just did a battery pull on my own...

Next will try without the media card inserted.

Stay tuned............

Tell them you want a new one. No excuse for it to be doing that a day into you having it.
