Bush gets two shoes thrown at him
Hilarious video found within the link.

Quote:
BAGHDAD – On an Iraq trip shrouded in secrecy and marred by dissent, President George W. Bush on Sunday hailed progress in the war that defines his presidency and got a size-10 reminder of his unpopularity when a man hurled two shoes at him during a news conference.
"This is the end!" shouted the protester, later identified as Muntadar al-Zeidi, a correspondent for Al-Baghdadia television, an Iraqi-owned station based in Cairo, Egypt.
Bush ducked both shoes as they whizzed past his head and landed with a thud against the wall behind him.
"All I can report," Bush joked later, "is a size 10."

As much as I hate Bush, and as much as I wish that guy'd managed to hit him with both shoes, and that each of them was filled with lead, I gotta admit... those were some pretty cool under pressure dodges there.

In Iraqi culture, throwing shoes at someone is a sign of contempt. Iraqis whacked a statue of Saddam with their shoes after U.S. marines toppled it to the ground following the 2003 invasion.

How fitting is it, that Bush gets treated the same way Hussein did?

Really? I wasn't aware the secret service went around shooting people who are not threats.

I think he actually smiled after the first one missed him.

It looked like Bush enjoyed ducking the first shoe thrown.

He did smile but if it was out of shock or finding the situation funny I don't know.
He didn't look one bit perturbed by the situation that's for sure.

It just occurred to me that the reporter would have made Bush look much worse if he just asked tough questions. Bush is good at dodging shoes, not so good at dodging questions.

Maybe he expected a bomb thrown at him but smiled when he saw a shoe coming his way?

You've forgotten about the shoe bomber. I think Dubya just likes a fight.

See I did think of the shoe bomb but there was no explosion and plus I just think Bush is too dumb to even put shoe+bomb together at the same time while ducking. Too much thinkin/analyzing for him.

I would imagine 8 years of defending what is potentially the worst presidency in history makes you fairly quick on your feet.
Plus, he's a natural runner.

Did the guy just reach down and pull the second one off his foot? You'd have thought he'd have had them ready to go there.

the first dodge was great. I think that's the most effective and talented thing I've ever seen him do.
