Exclamation Internet Explorer 8 now available

So Microsoft released IE8 today at noon EDT. Has anybody tried it out yet? I'm going to hold back trying it for a few days just in case some issues come to light.

There are people who still use IE and are not forced to?

I was thinking of posting the exact same thing. Other than as an FYI I don't know why anyone would use anything other than Firefox IMO.

For some reason my Internet Explorer doesn't work on my Vista computer. When I try to go to any website it just grinds away and does nothing.

So I use Firefox and Chrome.

Well I guess it didn't take long to find an exploit. No details revealed.

Did they get rid of that CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK that they thought was so cool while browsing a webpage?

On some sites Firefox doesn't seem to work to well for me. Thats why I use IE in most cases.

I used to get that but I very rarely need to use IE to see a page properly, anymore.

I'm a big fan of Chrome's KISS principle driven design. Some pages (particularly those created with Microsoft technology, like SharePoint) don't load properly so I still need IE once in a while. But Chrome is the most convenient browser I've found, when I have to use IE there are a ton of little annoyances that I never noticed before. Simple is good... it's just a web browser.

The website I manage gets around a 1500-2000 visitors a day. 90% of those are still IE users. When it comes packaged with every Microsoft OS it's hard to get away from.

If Firefox were the standard I would be a happy man though.

I'm probably going to install it and see what happens. I do like the privacy options it offers.

So? The guy that hacked IE8 also hacked Safari & Firefox. No software is bulletproof.

just downloaded this because we already had some hits on our site from users with IE8, so i figured i better stay on top of things.

i missed some oddities on our site because i like FF2 and didnt want to upgrade to 3.... stupid job forcing me to upgrade my browsers!

doesn't seem much different from IE7 so far...

That is a Windows 'feature'. That can be changed by using the Control Panel -> Sounds thingy.

IE8...

When IE-PRO comes out for IE8, I will install it. Until then I will stick with 7.

Firefox will stay on my U3 drive for the specific instances when I need the extensions. Apart from that, it will never get installed on my home computers.

I tried it last night, feels a lot like firefox now.

But... I'm a loyal fan to firefox and for some reason, feels better so I'll stick to them.

For now it goes Firefox > IE8 > Chrome

The use of Chrome drives me up the wall since it doesn't have smooth scrolling. BIG pain in the butt!

I hate all browsers. They all use far too many system resources for such a simplistic program.

Suffice to say, laziness wins and I use IE

I downloaded it yesterday when I was "working" from home, and liked some of the features -- the Accelerators, the privacy options and the grouping of tabs.

For the time being, though, I'm sticking with Chrome as it's speedier, has a more streamlined look, and already had the option to hide my shameful fetish site browsing.
