Not quite being traded for a bus, but that's the minor leagues for you, heh.

Hilarious! I played with the guys making those bats, too funny, pretty sweet publicity for them, as I saw it on CNN.

That's some sweet free publicity for the Vipers...first Fleury 'signing' with the team and appearing on the front page of the Sun, and now this.
The backstory on this (for those who didn't click on the link) is that Odem couldn't get into the country, so he was pretty much useless to the Vipers, so they traded him to another league for the aforementioned bats.

Exciting news! Eriksson can get the Flames at least 15 bats!
What can the Flames do with 15 bats you ask?
They can't be anymore useless than Eriksson...

This is hockey bats are more useless then Eriksson, It's those fancy waterbottles the Flames would be after.

What really interests me about this is that the Vipers Chief Executive ######, Peter Young, said that the other team made a cash offer that was "insulting." Yet they traded him for a collection of sticks worth $650. Just what was the cash offer then?
And nothing describes how Gidney and Young run the Vipers like them admitting they were shopping a player for 1500 seats.

So, I guess this is the baseball version of a bag of pucks?
Didn't Rick Knickle (LA Kings Goalie) get traded for $1 when he played in the old IHL?

This seems like a fair deal to me. As a matter of fact, we tried the exact same bargain for Rhettzky in Slo-Pitch, but 10 bats was deemed an astronomical overpayment.

we tried to trade you for a chain link fence that we could put by our bench, since it does the same job and our batters won't be out either, but the other teams didnt like this idea

I use Prairie Sticks bats. Bunch of guys on my team do actually. Definitely good publicity for them.
