1 second in, Andrew Ladd and Dion drop the gloves.

2 seconds in (after Ladd and Dion go to the sin bin) Getzlaf and Colin White decide to dance.

What's interesting is that all four of the guys were team-mates on the WJC team.

2-0 Hitmen at last report.

I don't know about that....on the ice, friends don't exist on the opposing team. Nothing but competitiion.

Colin Fraser, you mean?

I think you still have the NHL on your mind a little bit, Jiri.........

The lockout hasn't totally erased your memory!

Looks like it's 2-1 half way through the game.........

Colin Fraser has 17 penalty minutes already!

2-2 after 2 periods.

Phaneuf crushed Getzlaf with about 6 minutes left in the first, Getz returned for just one shift in the first and will not return for the rest of the night. Could be a big blow for the Hitmen.

Wow..........hope to see some highlites of that hit.

You would think with no NHL hockey, and pretty much zero to watch on TV, this would be a perfect game for Sportsnet or somebody to pick up.

Sounds like a pretty good match so far...............

Sounds like an awesome game.

I was listening to it on the radio earlier and totally wished that I was able to go the game.

Just shows you that once you are back on your team it doesn't matter at all who you were friends/teammates with at the WJC.

Now 3-2 Rebels...........

Phaneuf, with his 14th, has the go-ahead goal.

Approx. 15 minutes left in the 3rd.

And...............it's over. 3-2 Rebels.

Dion with the GWG on the PP and 7 PIM.

Could be a fantastic rematch tomorrow at the 'Dome.

Great game with an amazing start. I just sat down in my seat after the singing of the national anthem... looked up, and there was Dion and Ladd going at it. Next on the plate, Fraz and Getzlaf. Two great dukers, two of the best I've ever seen.

Great game all around. Seemed like each team spent like 3 mins in each other's end. Both goalies played amazing. Just some great passing and great plays, and one amazing slapshot on the powerplay by Dion.

The hit was a great legal hit. Getz turned, and got flattened. It looked like it took forever for him to fall to the ice. He almost fell head first skating to the bench after the hit.

It's hard to watch both teams go at it, cause I like how the Rebels play, but I've been a Hitmen fan since day one. Great game. Better than the last one that they played up here in Red Deer.

I am thinking that the fights were due to Getzlaf and Ladd sitting out the first game after the worlds, where they brought out the World Junior trophy. Both missed that game, and I guess between the four of them, they felt they needed to put on a show. Either that, or someone snored in the hotel. If there's still a chance to catch highlights, do it.

Sounded like a good game.

Anyone just catch the highlights on Global Sports though? If you didn't, you missed a pretty crazy play. A Rebel dropped his stick, the linesman picked it up (to clear it out of the way) and then later in the play the Rebel was back-checking and got his stick handed to him by the linesman (full extension by the linesman too). Pretty odd stuff.

I was at the game and commented that that was a first when I saw that. It doesn't even sound legal to me!

Great game. Great result for the good guys.

Up 2-0, and we choked it away?

That's the third time this year we've let Red Deer off the hook.

Best team in the league indeed.

2 seconds in...2 fights between team mates from a month ago? Hilarious.

Obviously they had some differences with one another before the WJC, but as good competitors do, they put aside those problems for the good of the team.

Phaneuf is sounding like a steal more and more.

Well, the two teams have had a pretty nasty rivalry the last couple years, so the fisticuffs arent unexpected.

IIRC, Getzlaf and Phaneuf had a run in in the playoffs two years ago.
