Airline may force people to pay flush money
Quote:
DUBLIN -- Is a bathroom an optional extra when you're at 30,000 feet? Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary seems to think so -- as his no-frills airline contemplates charging customers to use toilets on its aircraft.
|
Quote:
"One thing we have looked at in the past, and are looking at again, is the possibility of maybe putting a coin slot on the toilet door, so that people might have to actually spend a pound to 'spend a penny' in future," O'Leary said, using a local euphemism for relieving one's self.
Analysts agreed the man who pioneered charging customers to check bags, to use a check-in desk, and even to use a credit or debit card to make an on-line booking just might be serious.

I see an increase of logs being laid on the floors of the bathrooms if this plan goes through.

Just another incentive to not pay that $1 for a pop/coffee on a plane.

Yup. Pretty dumb idea as the airline industry pushes more and more for the pay-as-you-use business model.

What if you don't have the exact change? Do you beg the person sitting next to you for the right coinage?
Worse off......what if the coin gets jammed in the slot making the toilet unusable?

When I was a kid, where i grew up they used to have pay toilets. Being a kid sometimes when I didn't have the money to spare, I'd crawl under the door. Sometimes they'd have one free stall but it wouldn't have a door on it and of course it would be filthy. Stressful times but the idea isn't exactly new.

Great idea.
Remember, this isnt someone charging you $150 to fly from Vancouver to Calgary.
He charges things like 5$ etc. With a fare like that, the only obligation to him IMO is to get your but to your destination, and that is it.
Also, they arent "denying" you anything if you know about it first. Also they wouldnt necessarily have to charge on board, they could charge your CC you booked with if it was an emergency.

There should be a smell-o-meter that takes money off of a persons credit card when they stink up the plane.

Ryainair is the cheapest airline there is, I think while we were in Europe we got a flight on Ryainair for 1 Euro. Don't book on Ryanair if you expect service plain and simple, it's a cost airlines.

I think people will raise a stink if this becomes reality.
