Toonie Tuesday
So I just looked at paper and there's another KFC Flyer. Toonie Tuesday it says. $2.79 + Tax.
IT'S NOT A TOONIE, STOP CALLING IT THAT!!! Its $2.93. Just raise the price to three bucks and call it Three-Dollar-Tuesday already. ARRRGH!

This would have been a good "Random Thought"

How about what Wendy's has done with their combos?
They default combo has now become the 'Small' combo. There is then a $0.69 charge to upgrade to a 'Medium' combo, and a $1.29 charge to upgrade to a 'large' combo.
Seems ok, right? But, get this. The 'small' combo comes with a drink and fries (or other side) that are of medium size on the normal menu. The 'medium' combo comes with drink and fries that are of large size on the normal menu. Lastly, the 'large' combo really comes with a new extra large size drink and fries that isnt even on the normal menu.
To make it more confusing, the combo cups and fry containers are labelled and "Small", "Medium", and "Large". But, if you order a Small drink, you get a really, really tiny drink that corresponds to the Small size of the normal menu. So they really have 2 small sizes, 2 medium sizes, and 2 large sizes.
To what point did they do this? Wouldnt it just have been easier to add an Extra Large size to the normal menu and keep the combos the same except for adding a possible upgrade to large or extra large?
The only reason I can think of is that they want to eventually dump the regular menu and only offer combos. With all menus just being pictures, even the lowest illiterate life form can order their fast food!

The spicy and crispy bucket they have on the cover of the flyer looks REALLY GOOD. But can you just substitute that for regular chicken on any of the normal combos/coupons?

On top of that, the Wendy's near where I work doesn't even list "Small" as an option, and when you order a combo they say, "Medium or Large?"
But yes, you can still get small (which is, as you said, really medium. That large - you could almost take a bath in that thing).

Not sure. They could just whittle their menu down to Big Crunches and gravy and I'd be happy.

Here's a quick and easy solution. Stop filling your arteries with fat. If you're eating at KFC, the price of the food is the least of your worries.

I used to love KFC chicken. No longer. (Is there a barfing smiley?) An associate of mine had a heart attack and his doctor told him if he ever eats that chicken again, he'd better have his will made out. Who cares what they charge for that stuff?

As soon as they got rid of the transfats, it's gone downhill, tastes so bland.

I have such fond memories of Toonie Tuesday.
When my wife was pregnant with our first I was making about 9 bucks an hour (2001) and living in the ghetto around Northlands Coliseum. Between rent, utilities, baby planning, and groceries we had about $14 of discretionary spending available per week. The only meal out we could afford was the KFC / Taco Bell on Tuesday.
2 Toonie Tuesdays, 1 gravy and one pop (free refills!). $5.50 plus tax.
The best time ever was when the screwed up our order. They gave us 2 free meals.
