Default Pretty Good SSD Deal June 21 Only - 120GB OCZ Vertex 2 for $280 After Rebate

*After $30US Mail-in Rebate

Free shipping too.

Today only though.

I'm really tempted, but I need a new video card first, and smaller flash memory from Intel is coming later this year and that should mean a price drop and/or capacity increase like last time.

How do these compared to the Intel X-25Ms? I was holding out for those. Should I wait for Intel's new ones?

But man, that is a great deal though...

For the most part it either matches or beats the Intel drives.. Even matches the Vertex 2 for the most part except for the random writes.

That's what I paid for an 80GB Intel a few weeks ago. Good price.

I'm loving the SSD on Win7-64 though.

Is the Agility the one without a cache?

Either way, great price. Getting an Intel X-25M in my MBP was probably the most noticeable hardware upgrade of any type I've done since the first time I installed a video card with 3D acceleration - they're that good.

The Agility 2 uses the new SandForce SF-1200 controller, as does the top of the line Vertex 2, but the Vertex 2 gets a special version of the firmware that gives the Vertex 2 higher random write speeds.

But otherwise the two drives (Agility 2 and Vertex 2) are the same. In real world tests the difference isn't that significant, not $120 significant anyway unless you are doing something very specific where the random writes will make big differences in your productivity.

The Vertex 2 is probably the best SSD out there right now, and this gets you 95% of the way there at a very good price.

Good thing it's sold out now, I can stop agonizing over not getting it.
