New Blackberry Storm - ringtones
well, it seems I have moved into the 21st century and got myself a Blackberry Storm.
Not at all happy with the ringtone selection and would like to get some of my favourite music as a ringtone.
Now I tried to purchase a ringtone from Telus but it never did get sent to me.
I tried to download a ringtone from one of the free sites that someone suggested on a forum here but didnt have any luck with that either.
Can someone help this technically challenged Blackberry Storm owner?

Sorry man, that game last night put me in a wierd mood. Have you had any luck since? I know it's really easy with other versions of BB, could it be a Storm issue?
Try this site:
myxer.com
Use the browser in your phone, hopefully that will do the trick.

don't make it complicated.
Download some songs to your phone. find them by going into the media player and scrolling through the list until you find the song you want to be your ringtone. Press the blackberry button and choose "Set as Ringtone"
If you want to set multiple ringtones for different things, go into profiles from the main icon screen. Edit your active profile and set ringtones in there. You should be able to browse and use any downloaded songs on your phone.
When adding a new contact, you should have an option to set a custom ringtone, and again you can browse through any song you have downloaded to your phone.
If you want to make your own ringtones out of songs you have, just do a google search for 'make your own ringtone' and you'll find sites that allow you to upload an MP3 then crop it down to a ringtone as you want it, then you can download the smaller MP3 back to your phone and set it as your ringtone.
FYI, purchased ringtones don't work on blackberries because you can make your own, unlike the older phones where it was a proprietary format. Blackberry doesn't use the proprietary format so those ringtones don't work on BB's. Really, it's a good thing. You can make any MP3 you want into a ringtone, so why buy? (I have a clip of "Blinded by the Light" as my main ringtone, and many unique ringtones for contacts set up. Some of them are even clips of dialogue from movies or shows.

If you're having trouble downloading songs onto your phone in the first place, I would suggest looking it up on a blackberry forum like Crackberry.com or Howardforums.com. You need to install the Blackberry Desktop manager on your computer, then transfer songs from your computer to your phone. You could email songs to yourself as well, but it's a lot slower.

As a freebie site, look for tuneusin.com for downloadable BB ringtones. I don't vouch for the legality of the downloads, but they've been up and running for a while, so they may be paying licensing fees for the songs.
