Why are there so many mean people around right now?
I have been having a really bad week, I have encountered some EXTREMELY rude people, and I think I'm a pretty nice person. Is there are reason why people are complete s right now?
ex, I was going to buy a dog and questioned the owner about the dogs temperament and training (german shepard- fair question right?) I live in a house with my child and dont want an agressive dog. The owner was rude and condesending to me and told me to stop waisting his time and then hung up on me! WTF? I was extremely polite and I cant understand what solicited this reaction
There have been numerous incident like thisin the past week, where have all the nice people gone?

Maybe it's Seasonal Affective Disorder. Supposedly lack of sunlight due to shortened daylight hours during the winter messes with people's minds and moods.

I'm dealing with a lot of rude people right now too. We're running a phone campaign for work and I end up calling a lot of rude people.
The thing is, they have to sign up on our webpage and submit their contact info to get called back, and it's very clear that's the system.
People keep acting like I'm a tele-marketer even though they sign up for information on a website that clearly says "register and a sales agent will contact you within 72 hours".
If you don't want to be called, why the F are you registering!!?? These people are rude and they waste my time and their own. I don't get it.

Stress.
Life can be very stressful for an awful lot of people right now, with jobs being cut and savings disappearing. That isn't a good excuse, not one has a right to be mean to someone else for no reason, but I can definitely understand when the worries of life can colour people's moods.

I'm grumpy because I want to go to Vegas. I haven't been since November 2007. I need my Vegas fix. Others are probably grumpy because they aren't in Vegas.

Combine the two previous posts above and you have the reason why I'm grumpy. My job in unsecure... I can finally afford a house but now it's too risky buying one for fear of my income dropping, and every person I know seems to have gone to Vegas in the last month. That and I'm already tired of the cold.

I don't put up with it anymore. Maybe it's because of how I spend my days, but if I get confronted with a dork, I call them on it. Politely at first - "there is no need to get excited" or "let me finish" but eventually it can escalate and I have no problem with that. I just don't put up with it.

In the last month or two I have had much better customer service and found people for the most part much more open to talk about things. Tough times tend to bring people closer together for the common good. There are always going to be jerks out there but there are far more good people around to more than balance it out.

All it takes is one crappy mishap, getting laid off, wage decrease, housing increase/decrease... etc.. to get you booed off the stage of life.
