wranglers GDT: Lake Erie Monsters @ QC Flames - 2/18/09

In what I am sure will be a sparsely attended game, the Lake Erie Monsters travel to Moline for the second meeting of the year with the baby Flames. The boogeymen got the best of the flames with a 3-0 victory in January. Of note, the scarey guys power play is the worst in the league. the Flames are on a 4 game winning streak, and can actually tie for 6th place with a win tonight.

My interesting stat of the day:
The current QC roster is a combined -41; Chucko, Lundmark, and Greentree combine for -35 of that.

Was just checking the game-sheet on the AHL web site and noticed Jiri Tlusty notched 5 goals for the baby leafs. Even at the AHL level 5 goals is impressive.

7 points back of Chicago with 3 games in hand; plus they play the Wolves 4 more times; 24 of their remaining 25 games are divisional opponents tough to make the playoffs, but doable

yeah, this 5 game streak has made the playoffs a reasonable goal. i think it will be tough. but as mentioned, its all division games from here on out; so the flames can control their destiny if they actually start beating these teams.

i think i read a couple weeks ago that houston has only division games remaining. its like college basketball, we have moved into the conference schedule and play the same teams over and over!
