Default Modern day Reality TV: Worth watching or not?

Well this seems to be an ongoing phenomenom that has lasted about 15 years or so starting with the first "Survivor" and then closely followed by "Big Brother" and then a whole slew of others, some of which have survived but most have failed.

What's your opinion of reality tv? Do you consider it to be viable entertainment or just junk?

Yeah... some of that stuff is good, but I was thinking more in the line of "game shows" and "contest shows"

It is all absolute junk. But if some people are entertained by it then good for them.

The only one I watch is Big Brother. I don't really consider Deadliest Catch etc 'reality'.

It's a summertime tradition.

I love watching the conniving lies and hilarious crap some people do on these reality shows in order to win.
One of the best things seen on BB was i think in the very first season, one dude got into a fight with someone else in the house and threw a chair at him. He was kicked out of the house.
I don't know why i find it hilarious...i guess i just can't believe some of the stuff people will do or say.

Only one I watch is Big Brother. I'm not a fan of any other reality shows. I don't understand why people watch things like Biggest Loser, etc but hey, if they enjoy it then good for them.

I hate it all but the amazing race. If there is a Canadian version, you can be sure I'll be looking for a partner to hit that up.

If you're entertained by it - watch it. If you aren't - don't. No big deal anyway.

Also, Deadliest Catch is awesome TV. Really compelling stuff.

That was the second (and best) season.

When my wife asks me why I won't watch Desperate Housewives or other such shows, I always respond with the fact that I work in a soap opera, so I don't need to watch them at home.
