Joseph Henry Hagerman III, 33, said late last night in media interviews that he decapitated his son that morning.
“If I didn’t take my son’s life, he would have lost his eternal salvation,” Hagerman said in an interview with WVEC-TV. “I know it’s a horrible thing.”
"I didn't want him to lose his salvation," Hagerman said. "I wanted him to go fast. I didn't want him to be tortured."

"He's in heaven right now with Jesus Christ and that's why I don't regret it," said Hagerman. "I love my son, but he's in a better place than where I'm at right now."

Dunno if it's brainwashing, sounds like typical schizophrenic behavior. People often feel they need to save people, or the world from something when they have that illness. And it often starts rearing it's head in men about that age. (young adult men, before middle age)

I loved how you attacked the soulless monsters. That I agree with. This is a horrible thing to have to endure and then to have people just laughing about it...that saddens and upsets me. Very sick, I can not tolerate that kind of humour, let alone appreciate it.

The part I hated was the jump to blame 'religion' as the cause. Wackjobs have no common religious affiliation. You find them among Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Athiests, Agnostics, Satan Worshippers...whatever. Blaming religion is like blaming black football players for O.J. Simpson, like blaming clowns for John Wayne Gacy, or like blaming Londoners for Jack The Ripper.

There are religious groups who are run by wackjobs (the running shoe cult, Jim Jones, Scientology, etc.), but the religion doesn't make the followers wackjobs. It's the followers being stupid or insane enough to actually follow. If David Koresh came to recruit you, saying he was the second coming of Jesus, you'd be running the other way. But find someone too stupid or too insane...then add another wackjob to the masses.

And religion can ADD to the moral fabric of society as well with such religious based organizations as Aga Khan Society, The Red Crescent, and Samaritan's Purse.

That being said, if a religious organization or figure is found to have unquestionably encouraged followers to commit a crime, I believe that person or organization should be held criminally liable for the crime the follower committed as an accessory.
