SOILWORK - Feb 26 @ The Warehouse
My favorite metal band of all time, SOILWORK, are playing the Warehouse this Feb 26. For those that don't know, this band last year completed their seventh (yes, 7th!) studio effort "Sworn to a Great Divide" and it kicks serious ass! For all metal fans, this is a show you cannot miss.
Soilwork are arguably the most skilled metal band in the world today.
Hope to see lots of you Soilmates there!

Meh. Sworn to a Great Divide was good, but I'm not a big fan of the Gothenburg/metalcore style of music.
They seem pretty average and derivative for my tastes.

you know, i'm never one to directly criticize someone's taste in music, but when you say something like this

you really invite a load of abuse. i don't even mind Soilwork, but I could rattle off a few dozen or so bands that are more talented than them. just think to yourself, in 20 years will anyone remember who Soilwork was? i'm not so sure

Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Children of Bodom, Wintersun, anything with Jari Maanpaa, Megadeth all come to mind when thinking of bands more talented than Soilwork. I am not knocking them, as it would be a good show, but they aren't the best around right now. I have a hard-on for In Flames right now (saw them in Edmonton, cause I missed the Calgary show), and that show was rocking.
In Flames would tear them apart.

Incidentally, they got their first big break opening for In Flames.
I saw Throwdown, Children Of Bodom, Fear Factory, and Lamb of God all on one card, then saw Soilwork the next day (in Toronto). Soilwork was far better. I'm also biased because I'm a huge Devin Townsend fan, and he produced Natural Born Chaos (my fav) and then the Vocals for Sworn to A Great Divide.
Also, every Soilwork album is quite different from the last, whereas I find with COB and newer In Flames that they repeat themselves a lot. Soundtrack to Your Escape, for example, had five songs in a row at one point that were all in the same key. That = boring very quickly.

I like Soilwork...they are definitely a good band and I enjoy a lot of their work like As we speak, Follow the Hollow, Stabbing the Drama ect. ect. ect. but In Flames destroy Soilwork in terms of talents and pure awesome.
With that said me and some buddies are going to go to the Soilwork show...well I might not be. I may be in school that night which will blow. :/
