So my mother is coming to visit today...and brought AB weather with her?
So yeah...normally a mothers visit isnt worth sharing, but she was looking forward to getting away from the brutal cold that has been calgary and area weather of late.
So what happens?
We have the biggest snowfall in a few years last night with brutally cold weather. Wind chills are down into negative Farenheit territory and no break until Friday.
I know most are thinking...yeah well its been colder than that here!! And i would agree, but most homes down here are not built to the same standards insulation wise as up north, and many still rely on heating oil or electricity for heat. As well cars here are not equipped with block heaters...and of course the VAST majority of people here have no idea how to drive in wintry conditions. The NCHP has reported 130 accidents since 5 AM this morning.
Poor mom.
but on the bright side...into the 60's by Saturday!!

Alberta weather? What, the plus temperatures we've been having all week and in the forecast for the rest of the week?
BTW, how's the -15 high for SW Ont, Cheese?

December was brutal. 2009 had been pretty good to us.

Tranny- it sounds to me like your mom is the type who loves to exaggerate the weather conditions. The type of people who talk about Calgary having -40 temperatures in the winter; even though Calgary has never hit -40 temp, and windchills also rarely get to that level either.

They didn't have to get the groundhog out of his hole here the other day. He was sunbathing on a nearby rock. He didn't have to pad through any snow to get to his perch either.
Easterners whining about weather = Canucks fans whining about travel.

No easterners whining here that I know of LOL. Our one week cold snap ends tomorrow before we head to plus sides ourselves. Our spring is about 4 weeks away...March is still better than May 24.
