'Mommy, don't': Woman guilty of murdering daughter
Sorry to share the sad news. Read this article today, and it nearly brought a tear to my eye. I just don't understand some people
Quote:
A Nova Scotia woman has been handed a life sentence with no parole eligibility for 20 years for strangling her only child after she was given an ultimatum by her boyfriend.
It was dark and snowy on Jan. 27, 2008, when Boudreau drove the girl to a remote spot on William Hebb Road in Hebbville, near Bridgewater.
They got out of the car and argued. Boudreau tackled her daughter, knelt on her chest and strangled her with a length of twine.
Boudreau could feel the girl's hands digging into the ground as she struggled.
Karissa's last words were, "Mommy, don't."

The death penalty would be too good for this waste of skin.

I really wish I hadn't opened this thread. I have a friend who lives in Bridgewater and she has a daughter about that age. The two girls may well know each other. They must be pretty traumatized by this.
I think I'll now go and assume the fetal position for a while.

I remember when the poor girl disappeared. It was devestating for the small town of Bridgewater, I had a few friends living there at the time.
Horrible
Normally I'd say in cold blooded child murder cases let the parents have their way with the killer. But in this case, why can't we bring back torture as a form of punishment?

Boudreau's boyfriend, Vernon Macumber, told her she had to choose between him and her daughter if she wanted to save their relationship.

What kind of person gives that ultimatum? The only person worse then that is the one that chooses the boyfriend.

For those who are interested in more details, and a media-free account of what happened, the agreed statement of facts is a compelling (if unpleasant) read.
If nothing, the facts leading up to Boudreau's confession show how successful criminal investigations require strong police work (and adequate resources), combined with public cooperation and, of course, luck.

Why do we allow people like this to continue living? To kill someone in self defense or for money or property is one thing, but to kill your own child......just tie her to a tree and let wolves eat her.

Here's another awful story I saw on the news yesterday:

Quote:
A man pulled over on a highway bridge, took his 4-year-old daughter out of the car and dropped her over the side to her death Thursday in Australia's second-largest city, police said.

Worst part is that I think it said his two sons were in the car too. Seriously, what ever happened to just threatening to turn around if they don't stop screaming? What kind of sick twisted POS stops and throws the kid off a friggin bridge.

I remember it as well. I believe when it happened the Mother reported her missing and said "I dropped her off at the mall and never saw here again" type of thing. When it was clear right away that no friends etc had heard from her I said to my wife "I bet the mother killed her" and sure enough the body was found and mother was charged. This story just had that feeling since day one. Not unlike the Caylee story going on right now.

Its so tough now that I have kids to think about this stuff. My son is 4, and the thought of him being hurt by someone, let alone one of his own parents, is simply unimaginable. I would burn this world to the ground in a blind rage if anything ever happened to him.

Very very sad news... I hope the remaining family and community can recover some day.
I am very displeased with reporting sometimes, especially from large news providers. They refer to the girl as Boudreau, when both the daughter and mother's last name is that, they should have used first names. It's not impossible to figure it out, but i did have to reread a couple lines just to let it sink in correctly. As well they refer to the mother as Paul Boudreau's 'ex-girlfriend' ???? unless they are brother and sister that makes her his ex-wife, they have the same last name.
little annoyances, but it they are simple and should be done correctly
