Montreal billionaire battles back in bitter alimony war with socialite
Montreal billionaire battles back in bitter alimony war with socialite
Quote:
It's only in Quebec that common-law spouses are not entitled to rights either fully or partly granted in other provinces, such as alimony. The woman's challenge posits that the protections of marriage should be the same for married or common-law spouses.
The man pays $35,000 a month in child support. He has also paid for the $2.4 million home she is moving into with their three children. He also pays for a cleaner, nannies, a driver and a cook.
The ex-spouse, a tall, slender brunette originally from Brazil, is seeking $56,000 a month in spousal support and $50 million.

This was mentioned in my Poli Sci class today and I figured I would see how many people here would have trouble living on $35,000 a month....

I'd have a great deal of trouble living on $35,000...oh, that's per month. Never mind.
...is he looking for a new common-law spouse? I'm sure the list of applicants will be extensive.

She has high standards. How would her kids react having to wear clothes from Wal-Mart after being fed with a silver spoon? Poor lady.
I wonder if she needs a Pool boy?

There was discussion about the differences between French and English Common Law.
And I did suspect it was a Fata, however I couldn't find anything in search so I thought my memory was playing tricks on me.
